But after dropping that kinda cash and it not working. You'd think they would do more for ya considering these are $1200+ cards...or Seagate considering 20 drives at ~$160 each $3k+ and no ETA for a fix?
You've got to consider that even so, how many people does Seagate really have running a setup like this? The people that will care the most are Areca and there is probably only so much they can do if it's the drives.
Looks like seagate doesn't want to play ball basically they said that if I want it to work i should buy the NS series drives. Areca are working on new sas transport firmware to try to fix the issue but no idea how long that will take.
I agree. I would just expect a little more support from Seagate. Thats all...
Did they refund your first card?
No I had the card for over 30 days so I can't return it to the store, I will prob end up selling it on the forum or ebay, or I might keep it for another project.
what about the second xeon cpu? when are you putting it in ?
I won't be adding the 2nd cpu, there simply is no point. A single 2GHz quad core is already way too much then its needed to run a file server.
I might eventually turn this into an ESXi Vmware server, if I do that I will add more ram and 2nd cpu.
