Here we have it folks!

Catering to users who desire extreme overclocking and graphical performance, ASUS, worldwide leader in motherboard production, has released the ASUS M3A79-T DELUXE motherboard. This top-rated motherboard is equipped with the latest AMD 790FX/SB750 chipset....

I4U has also announced (here) that the ASUS 790FX/SB750 board has been released.

Asus has released the ASUS M3A79-T DELUXE motherboard....

So far neither zipzoomfly, frys, tigerdirect, or newegg has a listing for the board.

So I thought I'd throw together a little thread for those who are interested - so we can share news, reviews, and rumors with each other as they become available.

I was really hoping when I got up and looked on newegg that the board would be up today (Monday). Perhaps they are waiting until Tuesday (when the R700 is supposed to hit the shelves).

nice...

Finaly something I would upgrade my m2n32sil delux from... Time to start saving up.

Personally, even though they are generally a little bit slower on release. ASUS boards have VERY good features, and the company has traditionally been very nice to work with in the rare event of problems. So I would stick with one of their boards as opposed to the foxconn.

As for the question of the 78-T or the 79-T Deluxe... I'd need to know more about your system and budget before advising you there.

What kind of processor are you looking at? RAM? Video card? Are you looking for a HIGH end system? Or medium? Do you want to use integrated graphics? What's your approximate budget?

Answer me those, and I can give ya a better idea :)

Asus if you want to spend a little more but the foxconn is a very good board for its price.

~~ NEWS! ~~
(sort of :p)

This thread claims that the motherboard we have been waiting for should be out in the next week or so.

They claim in that thread that they acquired that information directly from ASUS. So I guess we'll see if that turns out to be the case or not.

I just thought I'd stir up the rumor mill a bit to see if anyone else had heard anything more concrete than what I found. :)

No mention on that thread. Is there another link?
Sorry, found a post from last week on page 1 that said the board would be"rolling out" this week.

Here it is!

Personally I will be waiting for NE to stock it - because I have a lot of good history with them - but if provantage has it up for sale we must be getting close to it being in stock at the other major eTailers.

It says special order, so it must be ready to come in but not in stock yet. Nice looking board and good price too. Hey, that's not the board that's a dual socket server board.

Yeah, that was my thinking as well. I'm hoping that maybe it will be out 'en force' after labor day weekend. Which is approximately the date that the Radeon HD 4870 1GB (DDR5) is supposed to be released too (the last part of my computer that I'm waiting on). So that'll hopefully be pretty good timing for me :D

I was waiting for either this or a DFI board to finally hit to compare prices, so its decision time. The price is much better than I was expecting! Now I get to pick FX vs GX.

From a OC only perspective, as in I don't plan to crossfire, would the M3A79-T likely be a better board to OC with than the M3A78-T (FX vs GX)? I am torn between the two. I don't care about the price difference since it's only like $30. For me the issue is that I like the idea of having an IGP on the mobo "just incase", but I don't want to short-change my OC potential by going with a slightly lower chipset. Also rumor has it that running 4 sticks of DDR2 1066 ram is not easy to do for the hardware (have only used DDR2 800, going with 1066 when I build soon) and I want to try. Would that also (likely) be easier to pull off with the FX board vs GX?

Decisions decisions...

i dont know the cpu u have lets say its a Phenom, from what i have heard and what i expect, and i also am counting on is the 79TFX will give it BREATHING ROOM for all the board and cpu,,,,,,lets imagine and assume it has to be better than the 78 board....north to south bridge....i too hope like you and all the other guys here...let say this is AMDS RAMPAGE BOARD for DDR2
i rest my case
ps:im sure there are many net pickers here that say the 78 is better for this and that, butt this is new board and this is 2008 and shit happens

we have almost the same parts for our new system the m3a79t fx
did you get your board yet?
hows your dominator 1066 is it the 8500c5d ?

Waiting on my board in the mail :) But I ordered that sucker as soon as it would let me hit the button, lol.

The ram is: TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF

Unfortunately I haven't gotten a chance to try it out yet, because my current mobo can't handle 1066 - so I have to wait till I get this baby to try it out. I'll post thoughts though. Now I just have to get my hands on the video card I want, and I'm done!

have it going, been playing around, you will find it you use the 14 multiplier x225 fsb it works way better than going with lower multipliers.im at 3150 cpu now i keep the memory settings at auto.
this is my 1st quad it runs very cool with the stock fan...i just have the board on my desk.
it defaults at 13 multiplier,so far so good the on off buttons on board big help.
hope to hear from you guys on your boards....

im running steady at 3120mhz i have the 9950.
my 6400+ i have not run in the m3a79t board,i was thinking the same it might go 3.6 or more....i will try later:)

Recieved this board from zzf on Wednesday. Received the brown PCB. Problem with ACC. This is a first time buying asus for me!

System pecs as follows:
vista ultimate - 64 bit
asus m3a79-t deluxe (brown pcb)
crucial dominator 2x2gig - 1066 ddr2
9850be
2x msi 3870 in crossfire
2 - wd 640 gig sata hard drives ahci non raid
raidmax 700 watt ps

Issue is when I set ACC in bios to auto or anything else for that matter (tried all acc settings) and save and reboot the system won't post and I have to power of the box and clear cmos via the jumper. Can't really find much info on this issue so I suspect since this is a first release bios this is where the problem lies.

I can manually overclock using multi to 2.8 stable and 2.9 unstable in vista. I have so far only left all other setting set to auto. Its just that ACC won't work at all and I assume won't until next bios release by asus. Seems to me that they would test this stuff before releasing the board. Has anyone else been able to successfully enable ACC in bios on this board?

Just got up and running, I got the Black PCB (from newegg)

Ill get back when I get more fuck around time on my 6400 BE

Bodine, I had a problem like that with the Biostar 790GX. A Bios flash fixed it. Had to clear CMOS if I enabled ACC. Must have corrupted the BIOS in my OC and hardware swap frenzy.
 Wierd, getting errors in posting

where is it black or brown so i can see my board where do i look....thanks:confused:

The whole board is one color or another. The PCB is a printed circuit board and that's the underlying part of the motherboard it's either brown or black.

well,so far this board is amazing, ive got my 6400+ in it now my 9950 was dragging,so im playing around with the 6400+.....i just saw the FX 80 and 84 this board should support it correct?
any way thanks TBC:cool:

well right now im at 300fsb, at 3.3ghz.

I cannot find any ACC option in the bios to turn it on?. Everytime I try to use overdrive it freezes the pc, and doesnt save anything.

I know im using the 0302 bios. Not sure as of right now if there is a bios update for an ACC option.

Either way I know my Memory is holding me back, But i am happy with what i got :)

I know I can post and run at 3.4ghz might go down to 282 fsb and use 12x multi.

Anyway time for work.

Newegg has this board listed as supporting 16gb of ram. Is this accurate?

And would this function with 4x4gb, or would it need 2x8gb (???) because of some 2-channel maximum limitation?

I just ordered one, and I'm hoping the manual has more detailed instructions regarding the memory, but can someone tell me how I can get the most memory into this thing, while still using 1066 memory? Can i do 4x2gb without slowing down channels?

Thanks!

Well according to the manual I have sitting in front of me, it can run at most 4Gig per stick, and 4 of them, for 16Gig total. That said I dont believe they make 4Gig 1066 sticks do they? If so those have to be pretty dang expensive. Either way from what I have heard the ability to run 4 sticks at 1066 is not guaranteed, only 2 is. However I would guess that if any board can do it, this is it!

How is this MB working for those that have purchased it?

Anyone run Crossfire on it yet???

I bought this board and am a little disappointed with the layout. I have the board in antec900 and crossfire is a very bad idea. The lowest card sits almost on top of the power supply. Not to mention that the lower card covers the USB headers. I like the board allowing one of the PCI cards to be used so that my sound card can be used since I don't care for onboard sound.

So a word of caution don't use this board in conjunction with a case with a bottom mounted PSU if you are going to implement crossfire. Seems like any sort of PC standards have gone out the window lately.

yea I got the antec 900, and I do agree with you, but you dont have to use that bottom slot...I mean there are 4 PCI-E slots. I mean I guess it would be a problem with anyone using quad 4850's.

All in all My only complaint is that if I ever do use 4 pci-E slots my Soundcard wouldnt work...no room.

Great overclocking mobo though, thats for sure
