I've OCed to 3.6 with 1.2V. 2.0V for the ram running at 800 and everything else is set to auto. C1a and EIST is disabled. Now, when I first powerd on my computer everything went fine with the POST and I didn't get a BSOD. My temps idle were about 35-36, 36-37 but now i'm looking at them with prime95 running and there at 72 and 67......... are these temps safe? I've seen people have <50C under prime95 load and I cant figure out why mine are so high.

After I get done with the torture test is it safe (and do most people) turn back on EIST, C1a? What about the other vcores like mch, ich, should I try to change them or should I just keep them on auto?

My main concern are the temps as these just seem wayyyyyyyyy to high to be safe (even though they are under prime95 load).

EDIT: i've already gotten an error too that says hardware failure

Ok i changed the MCH to 1.55 and the ICH to 1.0 I believe ever since I got the error

My e8400 is currently at 3.8GHz stable for 2+ orthos hours. My mobo is a bit different but close enough. The load temps are kind of high, I never go past 60's no matter how much i've set vcore in bios ( tried 1.5v max). Right now I'm at 3.8GHz with vcore of 1.360v in CPU-z which is still within intel specs. What memory latch are you using by the way? 2.00D or 2.00B? I find that i can OC higher with 2.00D.

Hmm forget the latch cuz you dont have 800 ram.

That shouldn't be happening with a Vcore of only 1.2 and a S1283... make sure the heatsink is on properly? Are you using the pushpin mounts or the retention bracket? Either that, or your airflow is horrendous.

I'm running Orthos for 1.5 hours now with Vcore = 1.3 at 435x9 = 3915 and my load temps are only 58-59C. (S1283, MX-2, retention bracket) Something is not right...

Overclocked and under 50C's during loads is utter bullshit - they have broken sensors. Avg in the 50's, to low 60's is fairly normal, however and a sure sign you have a functioning sensor. Low 70's though, I'd check the contact, especially with your OC.

Sounds like the HSF isn't making good contact, that's too hot for an E8400 at 1.2v, way too hot. Unless you live in the middle of the deseert....

Ok I just hit 92C as far as I can see the HSF is on correctly. Should I stop prime95 cause I'm getting really scared

92?? Didn't you just say 70ish?

If the temps get above 70C, touch the heatsink. It should be HOT or at least noticeably warm. If it feels cool, you're NOT making good contact.

I'm running Vcore = 1.160 at 400x9 = 3600 and my Orthos blend load temps are 50 :D

Puahah, I don't consider anything less than 4Ghz on e8400 OC's :D
That said, the minute I got 4Ghz, I got lazy and stopped. I mean, I tested up to 9x451, but that's cuz the engineer in me likes having some safety factor involved in my 24/7 OCs.

D:

Need a new PSU... I just noticed mine whines when I go above 3900, so back down for a bit D:

The engineer in me likes a little headroom too. ;)

What are some safe voltages for gigabyte's p45 offerings on the NB and SB?

Whats the difference between ram 2.0a 2.0b 2.0c 2.0d they all seem to offer 1:1
