Well I finally upgraded from a MSI X1950pro to a ASUS 9600GT and it's been a pretty nice refresh.

Although I can't really say I was expecting to get the "chick" version of the card... I was expecting to get this:

But instead of I got this:

But never mind.

It also appears they fired the graphics designer for the box art on this one :p

Another interesting thing is my 3Dmark score
I went from this:

To this:

Both of those above have my CPU overclocked from 2Ghz to 2.4.

This is my 9600GT on my stock clocked 2Ghz:

Judging from the SM2 and SM3 scores, wouldn't you agree my CPU is bottlenecking my GPU?

Anywho, highly recommend the card anyway. I am only playing on 1280x1024 and it plays everything pretty solid. Get 50-80+ FPS on COD 4 with all the eyecandy.

Crysis gets about 20-40FPS with all settings on Medium and shaders on High, No AA.

Pretty good for the money.

Oh it's just the demo version, so it's just 1280x1024 with no AA and Filtering on Optimal.

yeah I get 11k with my setup below so I would say your CPU is your bottleneck.....at least as far as 3dmark go's.

Probably is a little, however 3DMark scores translate very poorly into actual gaming performance. I would say you could add 10-20% actual frame rate performance increase onto most games with a better processor, ie C2D over 3gig. All depends on the game, resolution etc, very roughly speaking.

Indeed I might remove the overclock and benchmark Crysis to see what happens.

I loose 4 to 6 fps at 1680.1050 when I put mine to stock clock and 3dmark goes from 11050 to 10300.

Yeah that's probably right, 3DMark is such a novelty.

And you run Crysis at 1680 on a 9600GT? What sorta FPS do you get?

on the bench mark I average 26fps over clock normal clock is about 22

l have the same cpu with a 9600gt, does anyone know if it bottlenecks it? Will a 5000+ x2 b.e give improvement?
