I cant decide, their both basicly the same, one has a better CPU and worse GPU and one has a better GPU and worse CPU, i dont think it will be enough of a difference to make a difference.

Build One
Mobo - GIGABYTE P35
GPU - EVGA 8800GS
CPU - Intel Pentium E2180
RAM - A-DATA 2GB
An Extra HD

Build Two
Everything Else is the same except im getting an EVGA 8600GT and an Intel E4500 and a stick of GSkil 2gb ram.

What do you think. I dont know if an extra .2ghz and 2mb cache is worth the loss of GPU.
My budget is under 400.I dont need a gpu, i can pop in a 6600 to hold me off until i can afford better, but id rather not. I DO plan on OCing.

go with build one and get a e2160 to save some bucks. it will overclock to about 3.0ghz just like the e2180.

KK, thanks for the input, but i dont think im going to swap out the CPU, cause i dont want to OC very heavy. Unless the E2160 can handle it?

It can handle it, according to a bunch of users here, just get an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro or something better.

Which "extra HD" were you considering?

I second the recommendation of an aftermarket CPU cooler, since you intend on overclocking. The AC Freezer 7 Pro and the Xigmatek HDT-S963 are good choices.

If you have no intentions of upgrading any time soon (after this build), you could free up some funds by going with the Gigabyte GA-P31-S3G instead. It also supports the 45nm Wolfdale (E8xxx) CPUs, so you're not totally limited with future upgrading.

build one.

The OP is building one; he's just asking us which build -- which are ones he "built" himself (with only a CPU/GPU swap as the difference) -- is best for him.

k, i think ill swap out that mobo for the P31.

Hard Drive --> Western Digital 160gb

Is the WD 160GB hard drive going to be the OS drive, or are you transferring an older one over to your system?

The L2 cache will offer little (noticeable) performance benefit, so you could go with an E2xxx processor and overclock it should you really need to save money.

no that isnt going to be an OS drive, that will just be a HD for extra space. And yes, i am transfering my raptor with the over to this system.

D'oh! Allow me to agree with everyone else and go with build one... and hope that I don't make any more blunders today.
