Were you offended by the now infamous “hot coffee” incident? No? Are you sure? They are handing out up to $35 if you were. There are a few catches, you know, like you have to have your original receipt for the full amount. I am amazed that this has gotten as far as it has.

Defendants do not dispute that the parts that were modified and combined to display the Hot Coffee content were present in the code of the game discs. However, Defendants vigorously deny each and every allegation of improper conduct, and they deny all liability. The notice and other settlement documents provide information about the lawsuit, the settlement, your legal rights, what benefits are available, who is eligible for them, and how to get them. To download a notice package.

Total BS on the part of the attorneys suing Rockstar with the class action suit. The game was rated M and yet Rockstar gets sued because someone else figured out a way to unlock hidden explicit content even though the game was already rated for adults. Wasn't there fault irresponsible parents bought the game for 9 year olds.

As much as I detest the GTA games (well anything past the top down ones), I have to say this is crap. The code may have been there, but it took some hacking to expose it. Should that be the responsibility of Rockstar? I don't think so. And WITFF is wrong with poeple?! How can you be offended by a bit of bangin'? It's a game whose point is to kill, rape, steal, and so on... And a little sex offends people? Kids should not be playing crap like this in the first place, and if they do, well maybe it's the parents who should be fined. I'm beginning to think more and more these days that there needs to be a requirement &/or licensing (ala driver's licenses) to procreate. You can't just do the deed and let the world at large rear your children.

Doesn't really surprise me that the 'settlement' ended up like this. Such lawsuits seem to ALWAYS go in the defendants favor - how many people will actually still have the receipts for this? I'd be willing to bet that after all is said and done, Rockstar will end up having to put more money into setting up this 'program' than it actually doles out, and given my position on the content itself, for once I'm glad.

all i have to say is, i wonder how many kids "Accidentally" walk into a porno shop. come on! this is BS. you know the more you protect your kid from the world the more it will be F-up when it gets into the real world. i think this is just taking advantage of a company that has made alot of money and people are jelious of that.

I really do hate class action lawsuits. The "victims" of the company being sued get so little while the lawyers rake in millions.

of couse it's bs... kids see more sex and violence on tv and in the movies then they ever will in games.. but someones got to be the scapegoat right?

You are right. This is like somone unlocking home videos of Jenna Jameson in the latest Girls Gone Wild DVD.

Have they managed to produce a single 9 year old (or even 17 year old) who managed to unlock this, w/o seeking out information on the internet? (If he can seek out the information on the internet to do this, then he's alone enough to surf for his own porn).

That deserves a big QFT!!!!!!!!

anyone who takes advantage of this is a complete jacka$$ motherfracker

Profiting off injustice to the video game industry. pfft

I would complain if I were to buy the game and not have the 'spiffy' features.

I LIKE MY COFFEE HOT! :D:D

If I catch any [H]'ers getting "their" $35 out of this, I will send Steve to your house to stomp a hole in your ass. You know damn well none of you were offended.

Tell me how!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is lame. I love the Rockstar games and it's a shame that they are getting punished for something as stupid as this. I'm going to go play my foreign version of "The Witcher".

Do I get $35 cas the version I purchased had that coding edited out and you couldnt even enable it with a patch!! i should be compensated for missing out on such a prevalent feature:D:D

I wish I could get $35 from the dickheads who made such a huge deal over the whole thing and turned it into another "only in America" fiasco.

I wonder if there would be this problem if it was involving a largely unknown game like Indigo Prophecy. If that game had come out with the explicit code unlockable by a crack, I bet no one would give a crap about it. All these lawsuits came about purely because people already identify GTA as some kind of child-killing digital cyber devil machiene.

Indigo Prophecy was relased (as Fahrenheit) here in the UK with no censoring, and is definitely more explicit than anything in GTA, especially with the creative use of the action button in one scene. It's a very good game, but no-one could argue some of the content isn't gratuitous - for instance there's an unlockable table-dancing scene that has no relevance to the story. Still, it's 18 rated and available for sale, since we're not quite so prudish over here in Europe, and even that's daft really when our age of consent is 16. Once you hit that age, you can do it, but you can't watch it  Who decided that seeing people having sex is "damaging" to anyone anyway?
