I had overclocked my C2Q 6600 to 3.6 and it is OCCT Stable, ran OCCT three times to ensure that it is not random and also please comment on the temperatures as well.

This is at LOAD - F@H is running so that's why my cores are pegged. Should I push it any more or just leave it? Before this I was running 3.4 and I suppose I'm perfectly glad with this.

I may be wrong as I don't know how accurate Everest is with finding the correct Tjunction, but me thinks you need to tack an extra 15* c onto those temps. If I'm wrong, then I'd say give it a little more juice and see what you can do.

Get the latest version of Coretemp and see what it reports.

Does coretemp works on vista, the last time I tried, it didn't.

Edit: Tried coretemp again, didn't work, I have my UAC off and I also ran it as admin, nothing... Not even in comp mode. And I think this temps are accurate :)

I can run Coretemp under Vista (32bit) perfectly fine as long as I run it as admin, try that. :)

Also try and run dual instances of Orthos for stability testing for a minimum of 8 hours, if it passes that I will envy your CPU and OC :D

I'm currently 12 hours stable on my Q6600 @ 3.2GHz (400x8) with 1.34v at load.

I always run 24 hours, even though nothing I do will ever put the computer at load for 24 hours./

Do a search in this subforum. There is a way to get CoreTemp (.94 and .96) to work on Vista x64. I've got it working and haven't had any issues.

His temps look similar to mine. I'm running a Tuniq Tower 120 and I get 36 at idle and 65 at load. I'm looking to go to water to reduce the temps on my CPU.

I'm getting similar temps, if you can pull off >24 hours prime stable then you have a rock solid machine. I'm one of the few that will advocate 8x450 vs 9x400 for 3.6 if your system can pull it off. I found 450mhz FSB 5 timings > 400mhz FSB 4 timings in testing on my system with real world programs that I tend to use often.

To get coretemp to work in vista 64, you need the most recent version and on reboot you MUST hit F8 and disable Driver Signing.

I've mentioned that I've tried to run it as admin and no luck on that. Yes I'll do some more throughout stress test.

Instead of just saying use the search, I have tried that, it's either my search fu sucks or the search is crap. And nothing about our temps are similar... I get sub 50c LOAD...
EDIT: In no way I was trying to be rude, I have tried the search already. I guess I suck at it :D Am sorry if I sounded like I was pressing on, I wasn't.

Alright, care to explain how to disable the Driver Signing part after pressing the F8? Thanks.

These aren't similar temps to yours. These are load temps he's showing which are quite a bit less than your 65*. If he were to add 15* to make up for a possibly incorrect Tjunc. then he'd be close to the same temps as you.

You must using Vista64bit. CoreTemp don't work under 64bit, if you want it to works then you have to work around it.
Here you go: if you know you're going to use CoreTemp - Restart your system, and start hitting the F8 key until you get to the Windows boot menu. Select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" Hit the Enter key.

As posted above:

When you hit F8 just before the windows swipe bar appears, a menu will appear and as mentioned an option called "Disable Driver Signing" will be available.

If it doesn't show up, keep trying.

I stand corrected.

My VID is 1.3125. I really got the shaft on this G0 :(

I would LOVE to have temps similar to these (assuming he's at the right tjunction).

Alright, I have got the CoreTemps to work, they show the same temperature as the Everest. I've see some guys here saying something about tJunction, mine is at 100c. So, is this accurate?

Tjunction for a Q6600 is 100.

Your temps are pretty impressive (at least to me). What are you using for cooling?

Edit: Will I have to do this "When you hit F8 just before the windows swipe bar appears, a menu will appear and as mentioned an option called "Disable Driver Signing" will be available." every time I reboot if I want to use Core Temps or it's a one time thing?

Using CoreTemp thru F8 would require hitting F8 at every boot time.

The "tweak" I was referring to is here. I've got it set to a bat file. When I no longer need it, I take the bat file out of my windows startup. I like this tweak because it doesn't require me to remember to hit F8 to catch driver signing.

F8 does work for most, but I boot my machine and leave. This tweak is just easier for me.

Since both coretemp and everest show the same temps, I'm content to having everest run on my startup. It works great with a G15 keyboard because you can set the LCD to display temps, cpu usage, mhz etc.

Right now, it's showing my clock back to 2.7ghz (speedstep), my idle temps in the mid-40's for each core, overall cpu temp a 32C and my GPU at 51C. Everest can also be configured to display in the taskbar as well so you can get the numbers to show up for the cores like coretemp.
