We all know it can happen...a sharpie gets into a toddlers hands....

but have you ever seen a monitor with beautiful kid decorations all over it???

Well here's a solution.. Shaving cream! Not the gel but the cheaper foams work well. Take a dry paper towel & small amounts of cream rub in circular motions and keep replacing the papertowel..it will slowly but surely lift the magic marker or sharpie permanent ink off....Good luck!

nice find. i actually intentionally put a sharpie dot in the middle of my monitor for sniping purposes in some games. but then my current monitor is a crappy 17" crt. argh, need to upgrade

It might be safer to use a microfiber cloth instead of paper towl. I once scratched the heck out of a laptop lcd by cleaning it with a paper towel...Those were the days.:p

Lol. That's a good idea for some sweet no scoping.

Isopropyl alcohol will also work quite well without any problems.

Don't use isopropyl alcohol, it can really damage the coating on some monitors.

You can get sharpie off of lots of monitors by going over the sharpie with a dry erase marker. Let the dry erase marker dry, then wipe it way and it will take the sharpie ink with it.

just going over the Sharpie/marker again with a Sharpie or marker will cause first mark to get soft again (the solvent). Wipe off quick.

sandpaper works well too.. make sure you get a low grit, like 50 :D

j/k

Isopropyl alcohol is safe for use on LCD monitors. Heck, it's the main ingredient in many (if not most) LCD cleaning liquids. Many people suggest a 50% solution.

Just make sure you use a very soft cloth; Definitely not paper towels!
