I need some help with this, I'm not sure where to put this but there are post about video and 360 so I figued here would be best.

Basically, I can't connected my computer to the 360 to get files to play on the 360. I'm using WMP11 to do it. I've set it up like the Xbox website said to. My firewall is the microsoft default one, which automatically allowed the ports required.

I'm connected to a router (both my computer and 360) but when I test it, it Fails at the PC Selected. Do you know what's wrong? Do I have to open teh ports on the router as well? Which I've tried and still eneded with the same result. Unless I missed up somewhere but I don't think I did.

Any help is much appreciated.

I don't have a 360, so I can't help you, just don't open the ports on the router. That affects WAN traffic, this is local traffic.

I got my xbox hooked to my pc, All you need is to hook it up to your network,
Maybe go into your router and staic assign a IP to the xbox and do so on your xbox settings. Turn off your firewall, and see what happens

I already closed them again. Pointless to leave thigns open unnecessarily.

I just tried, still ended up the same. It doens't even seem to detect the computer at all.
EDIT: I already did the static IP thing. Doesn't do it either. Oh, I tried to ICMP ping it, and it failed too, if that tells you anything.

Have you allowed the connection from wmp11 on the pc? (Not sure if that's on the MS guide)

Also, are you going in to the media center section, or going through music in the 360 dashboard - you should be going through music or video, not media center.

Yes, I'm not THAT stupid >.> I looked on google, it seems I'm not the only one, some people think its just a bug that it doens't see it. I don't know though.
