So A friend of my father calls me and ( he works for intel ) tells me he needs help moving and he would pay so i was like hek ya ill do it! So while were moving i keep asking him qustions about intel processors and how they compare to amd and such lol he kept on telling me that he cant say such and such but later on after all the 6 hours of moving we go and eat dinner with the guy and the subject of Intel video cards come up and the guy went off hheee was sooo pumped up about the subject, ill get to the point, ********************So He slips out ****"Our Cards compared to nvida will be the difference of intel processors and amd processors" ************thats exactly what he said he doesnt have great English lol but after that he kinda got pissed off and was like " you talk to fucking much u know dat ?"

All I know is someone better come out with some monster cards soon to keep the wheel going... being stuck with old tech as newer games are already running over them sucks :p

Crysis / WiC are too biggies that can bring even the ultras to their knees. Can't wait to see what others like Alan Wake will need

I really hope they do come out with some card's. I just hope if they do they will not cost $1000+

o and one more thing there gonna be single slot cards not cheap cards like the 8800gt which nvida wants you to pay for sli ( Which many ppl are doing ) So yeah they will prob. be 500ish

nice going , way to ruin a guys carreer for 15 seconds of fame....

Intel have stated that they are NOT gunning for the enthusiast-class card with Larrabee, but mid-end...you do the math.

If Intel gets into the graphics card it won't be the high end, it'll be mid-low range.

+1, i think intel would never have a chance in the high end graphics industry.

They would have a chance, but I doubt they'd care to be involved in the current ATi & NVIDIA pissing match. They're in it to make money, and in order to do that all they gotta do is get in good with the OEM's which they already are. Intel has made dedicated graphics before, it just wasn't meant for gaming or anything.

Given Intel's history with GPU's, I'd take the source's information with a shaker full of salt.

i740... Heh...

Intel has been making IGP's for years all it would really take is kicking down some more money for R&D to step up thier game.

Why? They certainly have the money and experience to pull it off.

I dont know if youve noticed lately but Nvidia and ATI havnt been involved in a pissing match for some time more realistically Nvidia has been pissing on ATI for a year straight.

If Intel actually did come out with a part that was faster than the 8800GTX and kept thier OEM deals for IGP's that would instantly put them over AMD on both fronts. Imagine the damage that would do to AMD as a company. Realistically Intel doing this could potentially make them alot of money and cripple thier biggest competitor.

Either way these rumors have been floating around for some time now, although i dont believe the OPs story. If intel jumped into the highend graphics market that would be a great thing for all of us.

If I've said it once I've said it 1000 times, graphics providers make their money on the lower end chips because they sell more of those. If you don't think Intel is making more money than NVIDIA in the graphics industry then you need to take a look at some market share numbers. There isn't as much money to make in the high end segment and honestly Intel doesn't need to be involved with it. And I say pissing match because effectively it is, sure NVIDIA is owning the shit out of ATi right now, but that will only last for so long.

If you think ATi is going to die because of them being bought by AMD or that AMD is going to die because they're losing hardcore to Intel then you're ignorant and don't remotely understand how the industry works. Let's not forget how much shit Intel had to sell when they got pwned by AMD and how badly NVIDIA got their asses kicked when they released the Geforce FX series.

All I hope is that us guy's who were hoping for something faster than the new GT, and who resisted clicking the buy button so far, are rewarded in the near future.

ATI or Nvidia will hopefully spit some faster cards out soon.

Any and all talk of some time in 08 still makes my stomach turn....

Mabey an early 08 card as my one and only step-up, but late in 08 is way too long for me.

Whatever card I but, + mabey 1 step up, will have to keep me happy for a long time.
I have 1 Grand left for a video card. I wish a $500 to $700 monster comes out soon.

I want to be rocking in late Nov early Dec I hope....

I can't take it much longer...

I am hoping after Nov 15th ot 16th some news will be able to break?

P.S.
ANyways just wanted to throw that out there this guy is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and hes XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and he works in XXXXXXXXXXXXX

Thaks for the info, but protect your man and kill that last line.
We need the information to flow, not get our scources in trouble.
I hope they are runners!! ;)

We need more people to spill their guts on the low down, and give is the scoop from both camps in my book!
Lack of info, is never the consumors friend.

No Intel is in this game for market dominance, their byproduct which is money...sort of irony there.

Exactly. This is about leverage. Intel has no choice but to go to the high end. Well, a complete range of graphics options really. Hell, even our OS uses 3D graphics now. They are not going to leave this market to Nvidia. They are most certainly not going to allow AMD/ATI to be out there with CPU's and high end graphics platforms while they only have CPU and consumers only choice is Nvidia or their direct competition. Intel WILL make high- even ultra high end add in graphics cards even as they work towards the same goal as AMD/ATI of CPU and graphics on the same chip and there is even talk of these on chip graphics being able to supplement the add in part.

Nvidia, right now, looks like dead man walking.

It is coming. I am excited about it.

why I waste my time posting this if it was a lie ? I benefit nothing from posting this ! I found out some information and thought it would be nice to share with ppl

More competition is always good. I hope they put out something killer so we have fewer one sided generations.

I can't see intel beating nvidia myself. Look at intel's previous GPU technology, it would be a huge step up for them to suddenly be competing with the big guys (with the huge gpu R&D)

Reminds me of the old graphics card companies in competition with each other in the past:
- Matrox
- Voodoo
- Nvidia
- ATI
- SiS
- XGI (I think, someone with better memory than my 27-year old one could correct me here)

And, when many of us were still using Windows 95, 98, or 98 SE. (Heavens forbid Windows Me 1.) Nowadays, of that list above, only ATI and Nvidia rose to the top. Competition is now just between those two. Everyone else either got bought out (Voodoo to Nvidia) or entered the integrated graphics market or other niche markets and stayed (Matrox, SiS, and XGI).

It's similar to having that classic competition between Sega and Nintendo before it became "Sony v. Sega v. Nintendo", then "Sony v. Nintendo", then "Sony v. Microsoft, Nintendo on the side."

Basically saying that there isn't much variety nowadays, and there are now just two camps touting who is better than the other to no end. Fanboys are entrenched and recruiting others to their side is all too common and everyone spewing out benchmarks to see who's "e-peen" is larger and longer than the other.

A third party to enter the market and shake things up a little would make it more interesting if and only if that third party is determined to do so. Intel has both the resources and the financial backing to enter this endeavor. They would probably have to separate their integrated graphics division (if they have one) and have them focus on making dedicated cards. If I remember from Inquirer.net, Intel is planning on more powerful IGPs, but their performance would be equivalent somewhat to a low-end part from Nvidia and ATI. Currently the most powerful IGP Intel has to offer is the X3000 series with hardware vertex shaders and DirectX 10 support. (Of course, if anyone has been keeping up, Intel goofed and didn't have their drivers enable the hardware shaders. You'd have to download the newer drivers to enable them. I believe the Vista version is still in beta.)

But, it is a small indication of where Intel is heading with their IGP parts. They already make chipsets-- P35, X38, and soon X48-- that are in direct competition with ATI's RD700 series and Nvidia's 600 and upcoming 700 series chipsets. Let's not include Larabee into this equation as that will probably be a GPGPU part. All Intel has to do is put more resources and effort into creating a dedicated card. It would be the equivalent of taking their X3000 series IGP and make them dedicated, but upping their performance. Whereby Nvidia and ATI have had years of GPU experience behind them, Intel has a long history of making CPUs, chipsets, and an understanding of how they work and what should go into them.

Imagine a 45nm, possibly multi-core, GPU from Intel (given their latest 45nm Penryns), with a ten, 100-fold, or 1000-fold performance increase from the X3000 IGP. The smallest GPU so far are the Radeon 3850/3870 at 65nm. 45nm would help greatly help decrease power and heat dissipation. They are already close buddies with Microsoft, so getting a true DirectX 10 GPU in the works that exploits its every feature would probably be easier to create and manufacture.

This rumor-mill from the opening poster may be true or not, but given Intel's past and experience, it's very possible. 3D gaming has increased and changed in the past decade-plus as more and more games are requiring more powerful GPUs (Crysis is an example). It is a multi-billion dollar market that ATI and Nvidia has built up, and if Intel is like any Western capitalist corporation, they wouldn't let something like this slip through their fingers. The 45nm Penryns are a good indication of GPU die size, the X3000 IGPs are probably a good indication of them testing the waters, and the so-called Larabee GPGPU concept is what they intend to manufacture could probably come in a consumer-minded form as a dedicated GPU instead.

It's something worth to look out for and consider when someone from Intel slips something past their NDAs or over a casual dinner with a close friend outside the company.

If you look at the market share Nvidia has been closing in on intel and they are now pretty damn close (Within 5% of intels market share). If Nvidia remains unchecked they may very well close that gap and pull ahead. While IGP's and low end may be the breadwinner for most of these companies dont overlook the high end. Its no coincidence that nvidia has gained 14% marketshare since the middle of last year. Thats not something Intel would take lightly.

In fact i wouldnt doubt it if by the end of the year Nvidia closed that gap given the success of the 8800GT and continued dominance in the high end.

I personally believe that nvida will always stay on the top. There cards have showed dominance over amd this whole entire year. Amd in my opinion will always be number 2

Look at Intels previous processor technology. They managed to pull that off pretty easily.

Not to be an ass, but last time I checked Nintendo was outselling both companies. So you may want to revise that a little.

It is also potentially rather thin ice. Intel has more money than any of them, combined (Nvidia and AMD). If Intel really does come out with *good* high-end discreet graphics (for which they certainly have the capacity) - it could be very dangerous for us consumers.

At the moment, Nvidia is not really being pressed by the competition. Intel could very quickly put AMD in its place (lacking any revolutionary product), while pretty much giving Nvidia an Office Space beat down. Intel could easily posture itself as last man standing, and that is an extremely poor position for us consumers. This leads way to stale technologies and obscene pricing because they're the only ones left.

It is exciting to think a new competitor - one that is capable of producing and marketing a great product - coming into the game. It is also somewhat unsettling to think what could happen if events unfold in just the right manner.

The only saving grace is that us here have a somewhat skewed perspective on the industry. Often we focus purely on the ultra-high-end, where most likely very little of the real cream is made. We like to see progress on the bleeding edge and make most of our product opinions based on it, but it's not where the market thrives. Mid-level products are where the money is; Grandma's email machine or Don's workstation do not require extreme-edition quad-core SLI sucking 500 watts of power on their desks. Walk through your local computer store or Best Buy, and plenty of those machines (desktop AND laptop) are filled with mid-range AMD and ATI products - even though most on [H] are convinced AMD is no longer competing. AMD's can still check the email and make the spreadsheets, despite some claims on these forums.

Hence, Nintendo on the side. In my opinion, they aren't in direct competition against Sony and Microsoft, and are enjoying their wild success with the Wii. All they're probably doing is just watching on the sidelines like spectators as Microsoft and Sony duke it out against each other. Point and laugh quietly at the two while Nintendo walks away with the more successful console of the 3.

Well the Wii is just a bit better than the PS2 in terms of hardware and price, so if you compare the Wii with the original XBox and PS2, you know which system is the best selling platform.

So, this guy's not supposed to have company loyalty and spread the word that their product is best?
Sure he doesn't work in PR/Advertising section? :D

a high-er end Intel GFX part is most certainly in the works. Intel definitely noticed when AMD bought ATI. DAAMIT will be making a GPCPU soon, intel will follow. i have a friend who works at intel, he cant tell me anything except for "buy intel stock"
