Sources at motherboard makers in Taiwan have apparently leaked codenames and features of the tri-core CPUs AMD is planning to launch next year and in 2009.

Toliman adopts a 65nm process, supports socket AM2+ motherboards, and supports HyperTransport 3.0. The CPUs will have 2MB L3 cache and will be launched by the end of March 2008, according to the sources. The next-generation, 45nm-based CPUs will adopt socket AM3, support HyperTransport 3.0 and DDR2/DDR3 memory, and will launch in first half of 2009, noted the sources.

To be released the first half of 2009? Hell, at this point I'll be surprised if AMD is still around. Ok, not really, but still, this is getting ridiculous.

The 45nm version won't be released until 2009. The 65nm version is supposed to be available early next year.

Man I bet AMD feels the love in the room.

Personally I think this is great, as discussed in many other threads. The fact that some dates are out there and they are in the relative near future shows, at least to me, that AMD hasn't been sitting on their hands like everyone thought.

Oh come on, you guys act like you can do better.

Cut them some slack. They don't have the manpower and money Intel has. I'm pretty sure die shrinkage capability comes to both about the same time, but AMD is unable to do anything about it until they make some more money, while Intel can easily throw up another fab.

If you look at it in a different light, AMD is amazing because they can do with fewer minds that takes Intel thousands more to come up with ideas and methods.

That makes AMD ok in my book.

Still, by the time it comes out it will probably be pretty useless.

If it were November then different story.

Shall we talk about VIA processors? They are really far behind.

(I know, bad comparison)

March? Okay

Hi core2, meet my wallet.

I was waiting for the tri cores, but not anymore.

Great more code names and prices AGAIN, this is like the 500th Crysis video. Release a chip for god sakes.
