I've never owned one so i don't know how much better they are than a 7200 rpm drive nor how much hotter they run.

I'm about to attempt my first OC build (Q6600, 2x1gb GSkill 6400, IP35pro) and thought it would be cool to upgrade the performance of my main harddrive as well.

I'm going to be trying to get this to about 3ghz. Would one of these drives be a bad idea because of heat? (i'd really like to stay with air cooling)

Thanks for the input!

Mine is fairly cool (about 40C). How much heat you think these things put out? :p

I have the first gen 74 gb raptors and granted they probably run a little bit warmer, but it's not enough to not use one.

Well i have no idea :p never had one... just read a bunch of reviews that said it was fast and hot :)

Bah, I have a s939 4200 x2 system, 2GB memory, a Raptor 150, 2x WD 320KS GB drives, ATi x1600, Creative X-FI, and an IDE Lite-On with Lightscribe. My system temps barely hit 40C at full load, and my processor usually don't even hit 60C. My GPU is the hottest at 60C at idle (not sure what it is at load). And this is in an Antec Super Lanboy. I absolutely love this case, especially since the design is nearly 4 years old and I still consider it to be one of the best cases in the market today. Look at having a good case because that will do wonders to your temps.
