U.S. Federal Trade Commission says that a company, accused of shoveling spyware on web surfers, will have to pay $330,000 to settle the complaint filed by the FTC.

The FTC accused ERG Ventures LLC of distributing spyware that infected 15 million computers. The company tricked consumers into downloading spyware by hiding the Media Motor program in other downloads for other software, including screensavers and video files, the FTC said in an October 2006 complaint.

Lets see, make $3.6 millions and only have to give the government $330,000

Thats only about 9% of what they made from the scam. Why aren't they being fined the entire amount plus some.

Just give them a slap on the wrist, let them walk away with $3.3 million and tell them to promise not to do it again. yah that will work.

I think those "people " (I use that term loosely in this case) found guilty of writing malware or spam need to be sent to Steve's home. So Steve can spend some "quality time" with them in his basement:D. We all know Steve just "loves" people who send him spam and malware.

p.s. Steve I hope you have soundproofed the basement so the screams can't be heard outside , might cause problems the neighbors:D:D
