Issue with dVeLoPe

I bought an Xbox 360 off of dVeLoPe and he has pratically severed all contact. I have PMed multiple times and have tried to email him as well but I haven't heard anything back! I'd like to think hes just busy but it sounds like a troll. I have two names for him and two paypal addresses. I'd like to post them to see if anyone has any info but I think its against TOS on the forums. I have opened a Paypal dispute, hopfully freezing the funds in question. Anyone have anything to suggest? I'd really like my money back if I don't get this 360.

How long has it been since you've lost contact with dVeLoPe?

What do you mean you have two names and Paypal addresses for him?

Also, you did the right thing with an early Paypal dispute. Do not close it until you receive your product.

Edit: As others have mentioned, wow 5 days. And it's the weekend!
 
Posting e-mail/paypal addresses is allowed. Also, like I said via PM, you need to give a timeline, ie:

Paid X date
PMed him X Date
He claimed shipped X Date
Last heard X Date
Etc.
 
It's only been a few days but the lack of communication even though he has been logged on is not that typical of your average user. And what I mean by two names and paypal addresses is that he gave me one paypal address which I paid him, then he refunded me and gave me another paypal address with a different name which I paid him to the 2nd time.

From what I've gathered from the first post, it sounds like you started to contact him TODAY... and he didn't respond to your pm's from today... and thats why you're worried?

Correct me if I am misunderstanding anything, but if thats the case, you need to be just a bit more patient.

I've been a little more persistent in the past couple of days but I've been PMing him ever since last week. I'm hoping I am just getting ahead of myself but if I did get trolled, I would rather nip it in the bud then having to deal with it later.
 
Well he logged on once again and once again no reply to my PMs. This is starting to annoy me but who knows, it just might be at my doorstep next week!
 
Its been 5 DAYS since you paid him and you're filing a dispute? You shouldn't be allowed on the internet.

My apologies to all if I am overrecting. I do have such tendancy to be paranoid about such things. And I did talk to a mod before making such thread and they thought I had gotten trolled as well. So I did not do this lightly(I usually give everyone the benefit of the doubt), and if it comes, It will be my pleasure to close such dispute. I don't want any trouble. I really just want my 360. But please don't tell me you wouldn't be worried that contact to the guy has pretty much been cut off right AFTER he's taken your money. But once again as you have stated there is a reason that n00b is next to my name. Hopfully it all works out and I was just being paranoid about all of this.
 
He replied to my PMs! Thats a sign of hope! I'm keeping the dispute open until it comes in the mail which shouldn't take longer than 7-10 buisness, leaving me plenty of time to either escalate my dispute or just close it. Seems all is well now but I'm still cautious about it. I'd rather not lose my cash.
 
He said he will cancel shipping if I do not drop such dispute. This is where some times people shouldn't flake out on the delivery confirmation! I'm going to drop the dispute, mainly because I just want my xbox, but I intend to open it up again if things dont settle out.

Yea I just figured that one out actually. He just wants to cancel the shipping of it until I close the dispute but I don't want to to that until I get my stuff. I did just ask for my money back because I really don't want to have to deal with this. I just want an xbox. That's it.

If you really get this paranoid about things of this nature, don't purchase items from the internet. Go to Best Buy, Circuit City, or EBGames and just buy one. If you cant afford it, then dont buy one, or check Craigslist.org, in your location and meet someone locally for one.

I've actually just never really encountered a seller who has cut communication off so rapidly. I actually buy a ton of stuff off of forums which is why I am so apt to trust people. Then you hear the bad stories of people losing their cash and etc. My fault in this case it sounds like but I still have no proof that it has been shipped. I'm keepin on my toes for a while on this one.
 
I'll take a bit of the blame for this. I didn't get good info from the OP on how long it had been since he was out of communication with the seller before suggesting he post a TTT thread
However, if the seller has indeed shipped, he has nothing to fear on the dispute, and, as has been mentioned, if the OP closes the dispute now and there is still a problem, he is screwed. If the seller has indeed shipped like he said, then all he needs to do is provide the DC or tracking number to paypal.

A big part of the issue in this case was the buyer failing to get *any* contact information from the seller. This, coupled with multiple paypal accounts under different names, raised the suspicion level.

OP: If you get the xbox and it's fine, let me know. If you end up having further problems, let me know. Either way, this thread will remain closed with the Seller's name removed from the title, as it is indeed on the premature side of things
 
Well.. Thread got reopened since its been about 2 weeks and I have heard nothing from my seller and he has not responded to my paypal dispute and I have no xbox! I intend to escalate my dispute into a claim by the end of the week if I don't see that xbox or some proof of shipping.
 
very likely he's a troll as he msg'd me saying he had a 3700+ for sale

he would not provide a link to feedback only copy and pasted messages using citing he hasn't paid his ebay fees so he closed his account while providing a third email for paypal [email protected]

refused to provide name and address while being very rushed about the deal sending numerous messages asking do you still want the chip? if you pay today i can get it in the mail today and so on

when told paypal isn't currently possible due to "switching banks" he suddenly is fine with waiting until it's resolved and when I tell him that I would rather just send him a money order or use some other payment method he agrees as long as it's "some way to instant mail me the money"

he claims he's in philly but one of the previously provided emails links to a xanga profile in GA

Well still haven't heard from the guy but MoxMoney found me some info on the guy so I might start using that to trace him. If I can get a general idea of where he lives, I intend to file a police report to get compensated.

He sounds pretty sarcastic. I'm actually afraid I lost my money but I'm trying to talk to him now to see if I can settle things out. I'll keep this thread updated.

So after this asshole decided to spam my inbox with messages and freezing my paypal account (after a day) I decided to get my package back from UPS. If I WAS to have let him recieve the xbox he would have just gave me an excuse and tried to take the funds RIGHT BACK. Frozen PP

and after 5 days with no contact, I would say its you that does not know how to trade online.....

Also, this post was started 2 weeks ago and you claimed to have shipped on Sept 27..so I'm curious as to how it is you got your package back......a package that by all rights should have arrived to him 10 days ago at the latest....

don't answer, I already know how you "got it back"

well, he is right, you have his money and you have his X-Box.....that makes you a thief, plain and simple.


Refund his money, prove to us this was a mistake, and that you are indeed not a thief.

If you had shipped, why didn't you just provide the UPS tracking number to Paypal? Bam, that shuts down the dispute right there, and the buyer doesn't get any money.
Before accusing someone of not knowing how to do business online, perhaps you should learn more about how paypal works.

I will agree that I was a bit antsy about it. Your lack of communication didn't help either. But also, I have more heat than you do dude. You have NONE along with unverified paypal accounts. I also have a 100% trader feedback on eBay and Overclock.net(a well-known forum). Out of anything, I should of asked you to ship first. But, like I have stated multiple times, just refund my money.If you feel like it, ship the x-box with delivery confirmation. Like, a tracking number showing that its coming to my place.

I might also mention you have all my personal information. If i were to scam you like that, I'd be screwed. Just a thought.

No offense, but you're a total asshole.

I would've made my dispute a claim, as well as contacting local police, were I the buyer. After your "cute" little PM.

So you redirected the package back to you, at additional cost? I have to question your motives if so (highly unlikely). The guy has feedback. You don't have shit. You really think he would've taken your money after receiving the goods? I find it more probable he would've dropped the dispute.
 
Update: Paypal has decided in my favor! Yay! The Problem: They say they can't recover the funds from the account. So, not sure where to proceed. I intend to PM him and ask for my money back. If that help, I'll probably get the authorities involved on this one. Any ideas?
 
If they were unable to recover funds, it's because he drained his account before you started the dispute. Troll for sure.

If you paid with a credit card via Paypal, do a chargeback. Otherwise, you're pretty much out of luck. Contact IC3, your local police to file a report, and his local police if you have any information about his whereabouts

Yea I wired it from my account. I'm going to contact IC3. Just wondering, but what could my local police do if he took my money?
