I just got my q6600 today. I have a artic cooling pro 7 with Nine hundred case with 4x 120mm and 1x 200mm fan. I had a e6300 before running at 43c. my Q6600 is B3 rev, and its running at 21c idle, 27c load and its oc to 2.7ghz.

Are you recording temps via SpeedFan ? If so, you need to add 15 deg to that measurement.

yeah speedfan why 15c ? That mean my e6300 was running at 70c load !

You only add the 15 for a quad.Core 2 duo reporting is correct, I believe.

wow, that would mean his e6300 and Q6600 both idle at approximately the same temperature......... OP, were you using the Pro 7 on the e6300 as well?

I use core temp and everest ultimate(which prefer)with my qx6700 and they both work great.

Yes i was using my artic cooling on my e6300. And core temp last version doesnt work for me on vista x64.

Oh dear me.

Running your cpu at low temps can shorten it's life... because the oil doesn't get viscous enough and premature wear can occur during boot startup cycle.

I recommend a small electric block heater mounted right in front of your HSF (remember to plug it in at night, a timer might be a good idea).

You might also want to switch to a low temperature cpu oil, something a bit thinner - maybe a 5w30.

Funniest post ever. To the OP, for reference Core Temp 0.95 reports my Q6600 @ 43ºC (idle) and around 59ºC (load). Anyone know the accuracy of Core Temp?

What about nVidia monitor on an 680i board? Because I just did an install for a friend and the monitor said it was running at 26C overclocked at 2.8ghz...

CoreTemp is good. TAT as well. SpeedFan hasn't adjust the Tjunction for C2Qs yet, so 15*C is added.

My temp is close your temp. what is your cooler?

I think a reversed peltier would be more efficient for heating.

Zalman 9500. I'm very happy with it. With my Antec 900 case - and really any case with a rear exhaust fan - i think it's crucial to have a cpu cooler that blows air towards the rear exhaust fan. Also, i should clarify that i reported those temps *before* I overclocked my cpu. With the OC i idle at around the same, but at load i'm @ 63ºC. That was after using Prime95 for 2 hours.
