I once had a stable oc on a Core 2 Duo 6600 at 400x9 3.600. Now If I even attempt 3.2 at 400x8 It wont even go. It goes threw windows and I get a blue screen of death. Stock temps are 36-40C Idel and around 46-49C Load, And thats runing everything stock. I got 2x120MM fans a Swiftech Apogee GT and a Swiftech MCW60 in a TJ09 Looping it threw a 8800Gtx and of course the Core 2 duo. Using 1/4 ID tubing threwout my whole system. Looping it like this

Pump>Radiator>Radiator>Cpu>Vga>Reservoir>.

Think I seated the water block wrong?. the 2x120 MM fans im using are also runing at 1000 Rpms max. Think that the fans are to weak cooling my system?. Or I should try something different?.

I'd try re-applying the CPU block, I would say having the card in the loop isn't ideal but with 2 radiators you should be ok. :(

The aiur coming out of your radiator, is it warm? If so, theres your problem right there, the air coming out of a radiator should NEVER be warm. If it is warm, then it indicates that there is more heat being dumped into your system/water then is taken out of it! In this case, this would probbly mean your fans are not suited enough to cool your radiator (too slow, not enough airflow, etc, choise your pick).

On the other hand, if the air coming out is just room temp/ just air :p, then I would say its a mounting issue :).

If you want I can explain why the hot air in rad = bad, but if you think about it I'm sure you'll figure it out yourself. :)

^ ambient temps could be the problem as well... if your room is warm water cooling isnt gonna do as well.

Well... since there is gonna be less airflow inside the case then when you were air cooling.. it could be that something else is getting to hot.

Maybe a voltage regulator or the RAM is getting warmer than it used to.. maybe even the chipset.

Overclocking a processor isn't ALL about how cold you can keep the processor.. other factors come into play also.

BTW... what were the CPU and case temps before you switched to water?

What are the case temps now?

you are all harping on the fact that the blue screens are cpu temp related, which under 50C load isnt keeping you back at all. you still have another 20C to go before it would even be considered hot. there is another problem here, possibly hardware of some sort, could very well be a problem with windows. is anything else over heating like ram/NB? are your voltages ok? what does the blue screen say?

When I did oc the sec I ran orthos or prim i hit 68+C. And yes. My radiotor air was pumping out air 4x the coolness of my room. room temp was about 75F the air was at least 95F. So I reseated my Block, added less Thermal paste bumped up to new fans from 900Rmp to 1800Rmp....and yea....29C Idle 35 Load now at stock. Thanks all who posted and helped me out.

stock voltage??? Overclocking does shorten the life of a processor and ofcourse there are no guarantees that what ever max stable clock you get is something that the processor will be capable of sustaining forever. A 2.4 default clock right? youre at 3.2 right now? I wouldnt call that a bad overclock with those temps. I can get that on air though, I never use water cooling anymore beyond my experiments with it, the leaks and the results and the price dont justify not using some high quality air cooling.
