GfixCard: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS (cant remember what mb it was)
memory: 2gig corsair

Basically im thinking of upgrading to vista so i can take full advantage of x10. Now is my current setup good enough to run vista 32 or 64? If not any easy upgrades i could look into rather then rebuildling a whole new comp?

Yor rig will be OK.
Go for 64bit - its just matter of time before you will need/want 4GB RAM.(I have Vista Home Premium 64 for nearly 4 months without any problems).

So I should be ok running vista ultimate 64bit, be able to take advantage of x10 on upcoming games like Bioshock / CoD4 / Crisis? At most i'd just have to upgrade to 4gig ram?

64 bits is just fine if you want to spend more time trying to get the box to work while others are spending time playing.

Thats not true - lots of people(including me) just installed Vista 64 and and didnt encounter any problems. Some people have problems but those are usualy resolved by updating drivers and updating their OS.

What do you mean, like going back to XP? :D

Vista x64 here. The only problem I've ran into was driver support for my printer...which is 7 years old. No biggy.

Just make sure your current hardware and any you want to buy in the future has 64 bit drivers. There have been 1 or 2 things that I curently own that don't have 64bit drivers for them.

Other than that cautionary note I have been runnig vista64 for about 4 months and it is running great.

What should I be looking for finding out wether or not my current hardware is compatible w/ vista 64? Is there like certain models or updates?

I love my Vista. However I cannot get Bioshock sound to play. I have been through all the hoops, and even called technical assistance at 2kgames. They said they would get back to me in 72 hours. I ALL updated drivers. I have tried the compatibility with windows xp service pack 2, turning eax off... Reinstalled game. Still no sound. I am using the soundmax audio that came with the striker extremem board. Good luck with Vista, if you get it working let me know. Also I am using the download off of steam.

im running bioshock
at first I would BSOd every time I was in an interface either shops or my own map. Then I dled the new Bioshock beta drivers from nvidia and now I ran for around 3 hours before BSODing at a menu again

using x-fi
8800 gts

Bioshock runs rock solid on my XP boxes. The game is quite crappy though. Fancy graphics but dark monster shoot-em-up 24/7 is boring as hell. I had a Doom III deja-vu when opening that game. Hated them both.
