As my title states I'm just talkin' one "noob" to another. (I'm a learning "noob" without a doubt)
With that said, let me try and explain. I have several C2D's that I use to fold with 24/7 (I'm making my electric company a little richer) and I "surf" this and other forums. What I would like to point out (even if my grammar isn't all that correct) you should listen very closely to what some of the experts post, they know what they're talking about. Case in point: I have a E6600 (I have another same everything cooled by a Zalman 9700), OC'ed 3.0 GHz (333 FSB), stock vcore and cooled by (finally) a Apogee WB (not bowed), a MCR220 rad (two HS Yate Loons pulling), a MCP350 (stock top), a Micro res and it's all tied together with 3/8" tubing. (1/2" comin' up, with a pump change) When I started I didn't listen all that closely to the experts (I wish I had now). Over and over I read don't get a kit, DIY on parts (believe me, it ain't that hard). Not me, I jumped right out and got a Swiftech 120 rad kit with 3/8" tubing (I did pay enough attention to get, what I think, some good parts), I can honestly say it wasn't that bad. (I'm temperature "anal", not good enough for me) ATM, my ambient temp is 23c (indoor/outdoor therm taped to the case), my folding temp is 30c to 32c (hottest core read by Core Temp, SpeedFan) I don't care what air cooler you get you can't better that, I have 3x Zalman 9700's, a Tuniq Tower 120 and I was on my way to this other tower ultra cooler. Now, you may be able to get the same temps with air, but I couldn't. I've tried several air HSF's, AS5, Zalman ZM-STG1 and the Sh*t Zoo TIM and still couldn't get my temps low enough to satisfy me. Only my opinion, but nothing and I mean nothing beats a "middle of the road" WC'ing system for the high TDP of todays "multi core" cpu's. (I'm, like many others, eyeballin' the cheap Q6600) I said "middle of the road" WC'ing. I've also heard WC'ing is expensive and cheapo parts are not better, infact the temps may be worse than today's air HSF's, so pay attention to the experts and I don't think you can go wrong.
PS I've got a screen shot. How do you include it in a post? (I tol' ya', "noob" city")
