After 2+ years, my Beyerdynamic DT-440s ($160) stopped working. I need a new pair of headphones that are COMFORTABLE but cheaper. Sound quality does not have to be excellent, or as good as the dt-440s, just decent. I play first person shooters. I hear
Sennheiser has good headphones, but I'll need your help deciding. Thanks.

I have Sennheiser HD595 headphones and I'm very happy with the quality and the "comfort" aspects. I would recommend them for open ear 'phones at a low budget.

Yup. Senn 595 or 555 are both great.

Audiotechnica A700 Airs are more comfy at audiocubes.

the beyers are really really comfy, more so than the senns... DT880 is a good bet for overall neutral quality, or 770's if you like bass... not cheaper tho :(

I dont know if you are into 5.1 headphones but for the price and performance you cant beat these. good bass and highs but you got to have a good sound card to run these.

but buy from newegg if you want to save money. they also got this with a sound card

They can't compete with "real" headphones and are, imho, overpriced for what they deliver.

Thanks, but I am not really inteersted in 5.1 headphones. The 555 and 595 are a little expensive...what are the next best cheaper Sennheiser headphones? Otherwise I will consider the 555.

Take a look at Grado Labs! Their headphones sound GREAT, are comfortable, and they have excellent customer service. Not to mention, they're made in the USA

this is a good head set for gaming especially for positioning. when I want to listen to music I pull out my Beyerdynamic DT770's :D hello

The HD555 can be had for right around $100 now and are very nice.

I think you may need a top notch sound card or headphone amp to get performance out of those though (correct me if I'm wrong).

Sound great? Sure
But if you're used to beyer, comfort-wise any grados are going to leave you, well... wanting

I found Sennheiser 485 for around $70-75 , and the HD555 for $105-110 . The extra $35-40 worth it I guess? My choice will be between these 2.

Try head-fi for used deals. The people who trade there are good traders.

The 555 are much more balanced and refined than the 485, and have a leg-up on the comfort as well.
