Quick question about Abit IP35 Pro

Hello,

I'm sure I've read something about this here, but I couldn't find the post in the first 6 pages - on the IP35 Pro, will a double slot video card (8800 GTS) obstruct the nearest PCI slot? It looks like it won't, but I wanted to make sure, as I need all three.

I have just installed the IP35 Pro this past weekend and a single 8800GTS. Yes, it looks like it would obstruct that first PCI slot. There are two other ones below it that should be open however.
 
Think that it will depend on whether the PCI card has components on the backside & if so how high they are.
Other than that it looks like it would fit but it probably wouldn't be a great idea from the cooling pov.
 
Thanks for the replies, guys, but could you be a bit more specific? Bradbury, did you try installing a card in that slot and it didn't fit? Buff, the cards I have are all almost absolutely flat on the backside - nothing higher than 5mm. What do you mean about the cooling - would the temps affect the performance (or life longevity) of the cards?
 
Most gfx cards that have dual slot coolers do so because they chuck out a lot of heat.
Putting another card close to it means that it may also get warm & it may also affect the circulation of air around/over the gfx card which may make the gfx card even hotter.
 
Thanks, Buff, I got it now. Well, for good or for bad I decided to take the risk and go for the Pro - it's just the board that has all the features I need and very few that I don't. I don't plan to overclock the video card, so I hope it'll be alright.
 
The with dual Dual Slot Video Cards the very bottom PCI slot is open as is the the very top PCI-E 1x slot.
 
No, I'll have just a single 8800GTS card. It's a bit confusing, with some people saying it will, and some it won't :) Maybe if someone of you has the board and a double slot card, you could check for me whether it obstructs that PCI slot or not?

WIth a 8800gts you will have three PCI and one PCI-Ex1 slots available. One of the PCI slots will be right up against the video card tho.
