Hey guys, I'm just curious what everyone's opinion is on this.

It looks a bit bulky, but it comes with a 2MP camera, and seems to have a bundle of good features... I understand video calling cannot be used in the states, but on trips overseas it will be usable.

so do you think it's a worthy purchase (currently own a samsung T629)?

The t629 was a horrible experience. call quality is horrible and many functions disabled by T mobile. I miss being able to install my very own Java games.. =/ talking about java games, can this V3X play them and install .jar files?

Thanks guys, looking forward to all of your opinions ! :p

My honest opinion of the Razr phones is they are horrible... BUT that is personal. The tech specs I cant help you on, but if I was honest, find someone who has one, or a shop that lets you play and try it out. I had to someone elses one a few times and the menu system drove me mad!

But what works for one might be hated by another. And vice versa.

Yes it can install your own java games. The V3X is very customizable like every other RAZR. In fact you will have to do some SEEM edits to enable quadband support. My personal opinion is that the phone is pretty bulky and slimmer would be preferred. However if you can get the phone at a excellent price then it wouldn't be a bad upgrade from your Samsung.

A lot of motorola phones have the slow menus but with updated firmwares they were improved (but still present.) It is a excellent question to ask as I know a couple friends that would go crazy with the menu lag on my RAZR. Personally I thought it was quite livable.

I dislike the layout of the menu too, I find it very un-intuative. I use Sony-Ericsson phones now, and I love their menu system.

The other problem I had with the razrs were that the address book only used to hold a single number for each name, not sure if they have corrected that yet though.

the V3X isnt that much bigger than a normal razr

yes you can install java games on it

unless you browse the web or do some serious media crunching the v3x isnt THAT much of a big improvement over your standard razr

I have a Razr and I hate the damn thing. Sometimes it just lock up and I have to pull the battery, other times it drop my call when I have perfect reception. Also the speaker isnt really that good IMO. Maybe I just got a bad one, but I really dont want a try my chances again. Once my contract is up, im going to a smart phone, possibly the Blackjack or the Q.

Meh, i was thinking about the Q but with verizon charging 80$ a month my dad made the executive descicion that he isnt that addicted to the internet and refuses to pay 80$ a month.
And subscribing to verizons wireless broadband was a must for the Q

O rly, damn that is a bummer and it looks like Cingular doesnt offer the Q and only the Blackjack. I thought both the Blackjack and the Q can connect to any wireless access point and use that for the Internet? Or am I totally off and thinking of something else?

Blackjack can, Q can't.

Wrong, neither have WIFI! Samsung sells variants of the phone with WIFI but Cingular (like every other cellular provider) decided to remove WIFI support to force people to subscribe to their data plans. If you want a phone with WIFI check out the Cingular 8125 or the Cingular 8525.

Sounds like you got a bad one. If you have a GSM RAZR I highly recommend that you flash the phone with the newest firmware.

Once your contract is up I highly suggest going with a Sprint SERO plan (DOES NOT WORK FOR FAMILY PLANS.)

500 min. for $30 per month
1250 min. for $49.99 per month
2500 min. for $99.99 per month

ALL PLANS COME WITH UNLIMITED DATA!!!!

They offer the Treo 700WX for $199 and the Motorola Q for $80
