And now the Woo Audio headphone stands in action:

Very old, very bad digital cam. No focus function (!)

I've moved some things around, and need to add my feet for the Emu 0404 usb, but you get the idea.

Ok im gonna post a repeat question here so that i dont start ANOTHER thread

if anyone has some nice IEM's e4's> do they notice a difference when they use an amp with an X-fi or their portable media player?

going from e3c's to e4c's i tend to listen at slightly lower volume through my g2 nano. no backround noise but i did get some hiss out of my g1 nano. i beat that thing to hell so it might have been my fault. whey using the e4c's through my denon it sounds pretty much the same. im guessing the nano powers my eim's fine.

the etymotic e4s are 100ohm. i have only heard the e4s ampless though so i cant vouch for them amped.

oops... i just read my post out loud and realized i didn't say much at all :)

Finally got the AD900s back :D

The new cable is excellent. It's definitely opened up the sound quite a bit and widened the soundstage as well. Bass extension is definitely deeper now, too. At the head-fi meet yesterday we ran the ultrasone soundstage test on these things and it was just WOW

Okay, I narrowed it down to the
Sennheiser HD555's
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD...9?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1180987253&sr=8-1

and the Sennheiser HD595's
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD...9?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1180987260&sr=8-1

I don't know much about headphones, and the price difference isn't a problem for me. I would use them for MP3 and computer usage. Also, are the 'phones that loud for people around me? I don't nessesarly listen to my music very loud. I just don't want to annoy other people with them ;)

I haven't heard the 555's so I can't compare, but I have owned the 595's and they're great cans. if the price difference isn't a problem then I see no reason not to get the 595's

After 2 weeks of listening to my SR80s I've found that they are killer painful. The pads aren't the issue, in fact, they've been breaking in (still not 100%, but I can listen for about 2 hours before having to take a break.) Rather, it's the insane piercing -- yet extremely detailed -- treble. So - I bought Sennheiser 414 pads, and I've been using them unmodified for the past day. The muffled sound still works for me, it actually sounds like a cleaner and more dynamic version of my portapros. The bass is a little flabby, but the mids and highs are now comfortably still clear and much less piercing. The pads are a lot thinner and bring my ears closer to the drivers, so I find myself listening at much lower volumes. It cuts down on the leaking noise (not that it was a problem), and apparently kills what remained of any soundstage (not something I really need / was looking for in the sr80s anyway). The fact that there are no holes does not make it any more comfortable though -- the pads are very thin in the middle and my ears make contact with the hard drivers. Hopefully I'll get used to it.

For now I'm much happier, but it has only been a day so who knows. I'm already looking into what I will be getting next. Perhaps something that will compliment these -- darker, more neutral, greater soundstage and better comfort. I am thinking about the 595s, but I have my concerns. I will be going to the Toronto meet on 7/7 to try everything out. One requirement to date is that anything new needs to be easy to drive, as my only amp is not too powerful.

Hopefully I'll get used to it.

Haha, I love grado heads! The pain and suffering they will put up with just to use those headphones........ sadistic self masochists! ^_^
That's why I recommend you not buy a grado unless you try it out for an extended period.

Just get yourself a nice akg, beyer, or sennheiser. Your ears will thank you.
:D

All joking aside, you're doing the right thing by going to a head-fi meet next month. You'll get to try many differet things. Just hope your ears can hold out for another month.

Haha MC FLMJIG, that's a great picture, one to hold on to! She's a lovely baby, you must be very proud!
^_^

lmao! nice pic! It almost seems like it could be an ad or something for senn. PS: youve got them on backwards.

Thanks guys!

I noticed that after I took it but it's tough with kids. Especially one that is less than 2 months old! lol

Maybe I'll send to Senn to see if they might be interested... I'm sure they can chop my arm off and fix the background a bit.

MC

Cute pic, but know that it is imperative to keep volume LOW for infants and young todlers. Basically turned off, only a hair louder. They have very sensitive hearing, quite often. You would be much better off using a soft speaker in fact.

Try those Senn HD414 pads socket modded. that's my favorite grado pad

I looked the socket mod up, but I don't see what it would do in comparison to a quarter mod. How does it affect the sonic signature differently?

Look what the cat dragged in.

Shure's new SE310 Black.

Sadly, I don't like them.
I prefer my Koss KSC75 over them........ yea.... you know it's bad when I like a 20$ headphone over a 250$ one......
Oh well, I'll return them.

A buddy of mine at work got a pair of those 310s as well. They sound lifeless & dull to me, not worth the price at all.

Um, I don't think they're actually doing anything.

Revolution Audio carry AKG and Audio Technika

Take five Audio carry Beyerdynamic, Grado and Sennheiser

Take five audio realy is overpriced ... You are better shopping on a US website and make them ship to canada.

Completely agree. But they're a good company. I had already ordered a pair of SR60s when I needed to cancel after I was able to get a much better deal through a friend who works for PSB/NAD for some SR80s. I would be pissed for paying almost double if I had, and now that I know the price differences between the US and Canada I'd take a trip down to the states to buy any new grados -- besides look at our dollar! Definitely look into Alessandro MS1s. They're made by Grado specially, and tons of people on head-fi consider them superior to SR60s and 80s.

99 US includes worldwide shipping. You might pay customs -- but most people don't. Regardless some people rate them as good as SR125s -- so you get a great deal either way.

here is my DIY Headphone Setup :D

Not sure if his website has gone live yet, but a friend of mine is starting up a headphone shop in Canada. He is carrying most of the brands and had good prices. PM me for his email address if you are interested. :)

Just got them yesterday. I haven't used them yet; I'm afraid they'll get dirty!

Thats inevitable, but don't worry; these puppies are workhorses, and thoroughbred at that. They're here to work!
Just set them down carefully when done, etc. Common sense is all ya need. Im thinking of getting a second pair just because I can.

I'm looking for a good headphone amp for the 650's. Any recommendations?

Sky's the limit..you got a good start.
What is your source?
Do you want Tube or Solid State..
Whats your budget?
Are you going with a DAC?

Take your time..this can be a fun journey

Beautiful as usual X. I'm hoping to try and get one of those built next year some time.

Amazing Marshall. How does it sound? My wallet is cringing just looking at that, lol:D
