I'm upgrading my system, and I'm not going to do any overclocking, how do these 3 cpus compare?

NewEgg has the X2 6000 for $229:

What ya guys think?

This is going to be for my GameRig, and gaming only.

I read that that the AMD is better then the Intel because of the on-die memory controller. Is this true?

THANKS

just do what im doing. grab a cute little 65nm 3600 brisbane and o/c it to 2.8.

Well one small problem, I want to use my computer ---> NOW, LOL

And then of course at this moment in time, for buying a motherboard, it's still a toss up between a AM2, or skt775.

Then off course what's AMD going to launch, which I heard is Quad Core in Dec.

So as always, I need to consider the best buy for now, without spending to much.

THANKS

at resolutions and setting people actually play and not the 800x600 low everything bs, all these processors run neck in neck.

If you will not overclock, grab x2 6000+. Plus AM2 motherboards are generally cheaper than LGA775. But E6600 is better when overclocked.

You might be on the wrong side of the forum for a straight answer. Get the E6600 because if you grow tired of it, the Q6600 will be going for about $279 later this year. Even at stock, the E6600 runs like a X2 at 2.6 to 3.1GHz depending on the app. That's why I unoverclocked mine last year;)

I'm not overclocking, and the E6600 is only $224 at ZipZoomFly, and I believe $229 at NewEgg right.

But in July Intel is lowering prices I don't want to go crazy now, and spend $200

Intel’s Price Reduction on July 22:

I know and it will see another large cut in Nov or Oct as they posted cuts on the Q6600 by then as well. Keep waiting, its prices are always falling or something else will ship that's better anyway.

Get the X2 5800 because it is a lot cheaper than the 6000 and just a little slower. If you want to go with Intel, get the e6420.

and if he gets an AMD, he can always throw in an agena to go quad core when they come out ;)

Well honestly I'm leaning more towards getting a Conroe at the moment since everyone is so into them right now.

But I'd shoot myself when the Quad AMDs come out if they blow the Conroes, and they are selling for a good price.

Plus the Conroes are going down in price in July.

So Conroe, AM2, Conroe, AM2, Conroe, AM2, THAT is the QUESTION, LOL :D

Ahh I can't make up my mind, LOL

too tell you the truth you cant go wrong with both procs. E6600 is SOOO AWESOME. i just bought one and i know from first hand experience. while the x2 6000 is a great fast proc also. out of the box i've seen the x2 6000 just a bit faster than the E6600 at stock speeds but as soon as you overclock the E6600 its like racing a vespa against a yamaha R1. (well not really but you get the point)

dont kid yourself when you say you dont want to overclock. overclocking an E6600 is soooooo easy its not even funny. i mean if you have the power why not do it. you can get an E6600 to 3.ghz just as the x2 6000 is running and be faster.

I have an x2 4400+ overclocked to 2.74 and even at the stock 2.4ghz speed the E6600 is faster.

go with the E6600. eventually you'll feel the urge to overclock and when you do... at least you know you have a proc thats capable of doing much more than any other proc can normally handle.

All talk and no action is there so you do delay you decision. If you can't slow your competitors sales with Hardware, do it with Hype-ware LOL! I do agree with Eclipse, get Both, I would;)

Save this and toss it back at me in or about Nov. No matter how the Agena and Kuma perform, they'll be priced closer to X2's launch price, NOT Conroe's (and this is Key) across the board.

Well something else I overlooked, P35 boards, which is buying into 45nm support.

At this point in time here is no telling how well the new Barcelona cpus are going to work.

Again I can't afford to buy AM2 & Intel, if I could I would, LOL. ;)

THANKS

P.S. Forgot to mention also DDR3 support...

No, when I said Q6600, I meant the 65nm models that I know work:)

I know what you meant, and those can be used on a P35 board for now, until the 45nm come out. :D

Easy choice, all you have to do is look at 3DMark06 results and you'll see which CPU is best for gaming.

Nice try, but not true, GPU and Ram effect 3DMark06 performance results, also FACT, even different drivers will effect the performance of 3DMark06 scores too. ;)

Boy someone needs to do some gaming performance homework reading. ;)

Also QFT!

It may be possible to get an idea of Agena/Kuma performance come Computex, apparently AMD will be doing some performance testing of Barcelona.

So if you can wait until June 5th - 9th, you should be able to make a much better decision.

I can't wait to see the results. I like AMD and Intel products. I buy both and think folks who stick with either exclusively are missing out on great tech. This Balkanization stuff is BS IMO!
