After a year, PC Ice in my loop turned in to some blurry crap... it also effed up my tubing... tubes turned yellow/grayish color, inner walls are all gray. Same thing with DD blocks... i will have to open each of them up and clean em by hand.

I need to know what is the cleanest liquid or cleanest way to keep the loop. I think Pentosin and distiled water right? Also where i can find distiled water, which stores, i didnt look yet :p
 
Pentosin and distilled for sure. 5-10% concentration. Don't go below 3%, and don't go above 10%.

Also, to clean your blocks use straight vinegar, being careful not to scratch up the heat transfer surface.

Replace your tubing with masterkleer.
 
you can get distiled water at any drug store... walgreens cvs im sure even at walmart
 
Is there something better than Pentosin? I mean there are dozens of coolants out there. Something red would be nice :) if not than clear.
 
I get my distilled at Wal Mart. I'm running straight distilled with a bit of iodine (to keep the nasties under control) in my latest build.

QFT and maybe a touch of biocide

i ran both pento+distilled and pc-ice before


pentosin+distilled = perfect after 6+ months when i changed the loop (added a block)

PC-ICE = complete garbage
 
Pentosin, Zerex Super Coolant (if you can find it) or Water Wetter would do just fine. As Arcygenical said, 5~10% concentration.

You could also try boiling water to clean the blocks, but don't leave the block with O-rings soaking in boiling water as it can damage the O-ring or any plastic/rubber part.

Get new tubing, it doesn't HAVE to be Masterkleer, but it's usually the cheapest. Tygon, ClearFlex60 or Masterkleer, any of them will do just fine.

you can also get clear 1/2" tubing from homedepot and lowes

10feet for 5 bucks or so

i bought some - haven't tried it yet... sure it will be fine though

would prefer 7/16s but they didn't have it

Everything but Tygon 2075 is overrated. The funny thing is that you all think that Tygon and Masterkleer are made from different companies. They're made by the same. One is marketed towards scientific/medical use while the other is is general purpose.

What you use is up to what you look for. If you want clarity and maximum flow, Tygon 3603 1/2" is the answer. If you prefer 7/16" tubing for spacial reasons, then Masterkleer is your best bet.

However, all tubing, including primochill and swiftech's, will cloud and have minor tubing decay/breakdown resulting in white clouding after 3-6 months of use. I'm using Tygon 2075 atm even though it costs more than an arm and a leg.
 
I have Tygon 1/2" I can fairly say it is quality made tubing, therefore i will stick to the same brand. Will order 7/16" this week :cool:

Don't order 7/16" tygon. 7/16" is best made by Swiftech or Masterkleer. Ironically enough, 7/16" Tygon R3603 is trash.
 
The wall on the 7/16" of Tygon R3603 is abnormally thinner than most others. R3603 is great at the 1/2" but not 7/16". If you want to go 7/16", just get Masterkleer. If you want 1/2", get Tygon 3603.

If you got 40$ burning a hole in your wallet, spring for 1/2" Tygon 2075.
 
Hmmm... that black Tygon looks nice :eek: what you guys think? Is it any good?
 
I am running the Home depot 1/2"ID - 3/4" OD and it works great !! Using Fluid XP+ EXT (blue)
 
Damn, that looks terrible. It really looks like when my old DangerDen fillport rusted and filled my loop with nastiness.
 
Stay away from PC Ice worst product ever... I just hope that vinegar will clean my DD blocks... tubing is a goner, plus I'm looking for something new :p black Tygon looks very nice :)
 
Thats my friend i call pink not red :eek: but i guess i'm going to use it... my tubing is going to be black so thats closest best Pentosin to red color.

i only have distilled water in my system right now... been in there for a few weeks and it seems like its already getting a little hazy :(
 
I only saw blue and that red/pinkish stuff. Pentosin I mean.

Red - pentosin G11 R LL
Blue - pentosin G11 B LL
Pink - Pentosin G12
green - hydrex
yellow (weak) - various LL coolants at your local auto store.
Yellow (bright) - coolant above + Dtek yellow dye.

are your choices for dyed coolants IIRC.

Either you didn't clean your radiators/blocks or you're suffering from tubing breakdown.

I flush most rads with boiling water for a good 6 hours with a submersible loop. There's a lot of crap that remains in rads after you purchase them from a store/factory.

If you're cleaning your loop, you must also remember to take apart your blocks, clean them thoroughly and then reassemble them.
 
I had a thought... if i take my D5 pump and connect it to the rad and take boiling water and let it trough the pump and radiator couple of times, would be an effective way cleaning the rad? Also would it damage the pump, not sure what D5 max temperature is...

That's a great way to exceed the 65c max operating temp of the pump ;)

A cheap 30$ pump from home depot would work.
