I lost track of the thread, but I said I'd post a picture of my new Baysx BL Desk when it came in.

I ordered it from staples. It shipped FREE and showed up the NEXT day. Now that's excellent service. Orders over $50 are free.

This is the one I ordered:

The picture on the Staples site doesn't do it justice. It actually looks much nicer in person.

Assembly took less than 30 min. It was really simple.

It is quite heavy though, which is to be expected for a 3 foot by 6 foot desk.

I love the way the entire underneath is completely clear. It allows me to stretch out nicely.

i was thinking of getting a shell also. light oak, though. i'm certain 60" is enough for me. for a 72, it looks like a 60 to me.

I assure you it's a 72" :)

They have a 66" model, and I think maybe a 60 as well.

i'll probably end up going with HON as they have a better rep for quality. a little more expensive as well. what was your reasoning for a 72"? besides all that stuff on there. didn't you want the tower on it? I'm getting the LL v1/200, to put on my left side to the window is facing me. being on carpet, i'd hate to just get up and walk to it just to put a cd in. ( not that i'm not WILLING to do that. just annoying. )

get a picture of with with your chair, would you? if you could.

Yes, I wanted it for the space.

The tower is better off on the side-stand where it is. It generates a LOT of heat and I want to keep it away from me.

I can reach the CD fine. I just need to stretch a little :)

Dude! I was thinking about getting that one! I might go do that now, lol. I just wanted a desk that was plan and simple.

Beautiful desk. Nice elegant color, too.

I need open backs 'cause I like to stretch my legs out while still being able to reach my keyboard. Sucks being 6'5.

I am 6'4, with my belly up to the edge of the desk, and I can stretch out and just touch the back panel.

The desk is 3 feet deep. The back panel is inset about 6" Right about at the back spine of the monitor.

Heh, I meant more like lower chest touching the desk, butt at the front of the chair.

Nice desk but I notice this trend of placing all of your surround speakers in the front.

What is the point of even having surround sound.

It's only purpose-defeating if what they're playing is encoded in surround. If he uses them more mostly music, it'd be mirrored anyway.

But yes, pretty silly. Maybe he's planning to buy some stands for the rears or something.

Only temporary until I can get a set of wall mounts.

The picture really doesn't do the size justice.

If you can invision this, both my 100 pound Golden Retrievers can lye under there and not be touching each other, with my feet in between them.

It didn't take them long to discover their new 'house' LOL

I can only come up with one complaint about this desk, and that's the location of the wire drop holes (you can see them better at the staples site picture... I have them covered up with equipment).

They are in a really stupid place. They are about 18" in from the back of the desktop. That puts them INSIDE the 'cave', not behind the back wall where they should be. What makes it even sillier is there are no holes in the back-wall at all, and it's solid from the top to the bottom.

I can only think the designer invisioned the equipment being placed under the desk (computer, etc...). Really silly.

I don't use them and keep them capped. If one were to use them, you would have to use a hole saw and cut a few holes in the back section.

They should have put them about 4" from the back of the desk, which would have placed them in the 6" section that is behind the back wall.

Other than that, this is about as perfect a desk I've had.

The front edge has NO rounding, (just a very slight bevel) which I like because game controllers do not mount well to the front edge of desks that have rounded edges.

That is a nice desk, I like the simplistic desks too. Also being 6'4" i understand, it is nice being able to stretch out...

I mounted all the speakers up on the wall today (except the center, which is still on the shelf).

I also put the sub under the desk as i needed the space to the right of the desk for my Inkjet printer stand.

Since there are no access holes in the back panel, I made two (one on each side) with a standard 2 1/8" Hole Saw, six inches up from the bottom and 6 inches from the side panel. The cuts when fine and they look fine, and gave me a way to feed the wires to the sub.

Anyone know where I can get those plastic trim rings you see desks have in their access holes? What I have now looks fine, but I think they would help resist chipping of the board.

Thanks!

Of course, my holes are 2 1/8", right between the sizes they offer :)

Yeah that is a nice desk... I like it. The color is very fitting for the room you have it in, and it looks just right for the hardware you have on it.

Ok, round two :)

I like the first desk so much, I just ordered a second one (but the 60" version this time) for the other side of the room for the second computer station.

Lopping off 1 foot saved me $50 :)

I don't need as big of one for this station as it's mainly a gaming station.

Ok, here's the 30 X 60 version, all set up. Assembly was exactly the same, and only took 20 min this time as I didn't have to bother with the instructions :)

This is my dedicated Sim-Racing station. For size reference, that's a Gateway 21" and a Lian-Li PC60B Case:

This is probably the better size for most people. The 36 X 72 one that's my main desk isn't going to fit into everyone's room's so well :)

Moved to general hardware.......don't know why people equate modding with desks. Baffles me.
