I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU. Here are the following options I was considering.
1.) Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 $309
2.) AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ $239
3.) AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 $369
With intel, I'd have to buy new mobo and memory, but I can still use my Zalman heatsink. With the AMD's AM2 sockets, my Zalman is no longer useful and I'd have to buy a new mobo.
I use my computer for all around applications: image, video, audio editing, gaming, movies, etc. I like when my machine can run erverything flawlessly. Which one of these cpu's would perform the best? Or should I just wait until the Intel Core 2 Extremes and the Nvidia 8800 GTX drop in price and go for an entirely new system?
