Has anyone tried the digital cameras? The only one I actually care about is the one that claims to be 12 MP. For $130 thats not bad but if its sounds too good to be true.....
Its true. But quality is.....suckiest sucker that ever sucked. Dont even think of buying this camera.

Again is the video playback at least acceptable on the Glacier? I already have decent simple 2GB SD MP3 Player but the video playback and removable battery is really tempting of a feature especially for that price, even more tempting since i got paid today. :p So how is the quality of the video playback?

Its a little choppy, but I will go out on a limb here and say that the 4GB version is smoother after getting 2 of the 3 4GB FMP I got already seem to preform alot better.

*edit* looks like the MP4 Phone soldout.

Yeah ive read that about the FMP but ive heard nothing like that about the Glacier 4GB considering that its fairly new there isnt much info on it.

Anyone buy the i-nickle? I'm considering buying one on Monday-Tuesday of this coming week. If you have leme know how you like it / dislike it :). If no one has... Maybe i'll be the first to post on it.

Anyone buy the 4gb ipod knockoff from ebay? It doesn't say "Full Metal Platinum" but looks almost identical to an iPod. Just want to see if it's a good deal for $40 shipped.

Be wary of buying fake ipods from untrusted ebay sellers, most the time the 4GB versions are actually only 2GB. Check out http://mympxplayer.org as I think they have a list of good/bad sellers.

I just got my second FMP 1.8 and it came with a different 9.0.48 and not the new 9.0.50 and is alot slower then the new firmware. I'm playing around with it and I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

I got a 2GB Glacier for my 12 year old son and he just loves it. The video functionality is cool and a big hit with him.

We sync with Media Player and have it convert down to 64kbs WMA format. Will hold quite a bit of music at that bit rate. Sound quality is OK for him at that level.

Can definitely recommend this model. Would have got the 4GB one if they had them when I bought. The replaceable battery seems like a good idea too.

Anyone know how or where to get additional games to put in it?

As far as I know the games are firmware locked and can't be edited, removed, or have new ones added.

I have read HardForum for many years now, but just decided to register so I could post. I recently emailed Uxcell to ask if they would sell any Full Metal Platinums even though they weren't on their site any longer. I got an email back within a day or so and this was their reply:

At least there is something encouraging regarding newer models. I have been debating whether or not to get a Glacier, but think I might wait a bit to see what else comes out.

ordered the 512mb peanut last evening. Needed a nice tiny one with FM for my "beater" player when working outside and mowing season coming. Cant risk the ipods or the iriver high dollar players. If one has to break, let it be the cheapo hehe.

got my glacier today. i like it so far, def worth the 50 bones. SO SMALL W0w

i need help getting the videos that on the player to go full screen instead of playing in the middle only, if anyone can help me plz drop me a pm

Download the 4.05 AMV converter software from mympxplayer.org in the d/l section, allows you to make full screen video. Play around with some of the various versions to find the one that suits you.

I have two more glaciers on the way, and i received the first glacier in the mail today. All I have to say is they are awesome for 50 dollars it cant be beat. THe new i-nickel's look pretty sweet for 33 bucks. Definately the price point versus feature ratio = awesome.

I bit on a glacier today we'll see how it works out. How long did it take to receive it ?

Took less than 10 calendar days to receive mine.

I like the Glacier, however, I'm having trouble navigating between folders on the device. I can fast forward enough where it changes folders, but I really don't like doing that thru 500 songs. I read somewhere on it it has a limitation of 99 folders. Can anyone confirm?

PS. Uxcel LED flashlights are AWESOME for the price. Got mine same day as my glacier. The light is BRIGHT as hell. and thats just in the day time.

Did anyone reformat the drive after you got it? Does it still reports the stated capacity afterwards? There have been scams going around with NAND chips marked at half capacity being sold as full.

Well ordering directly from uxcell you dont have to worry about hacked players they only sell the legit stuff its resellers on ebay that have to worry about.

Yea, I did the low level reformat just to be sure. Better safe than sorry. My 2gb Glacier is a true 2Gb glacier :)

They say doing a low level format to it also avoids problems in the future so you should do it anyways not just to check if the player is legit.

Did anyone try using alternative firmware and/or modify the graphics on these with any success? I'm assuming these are the S1 players that use the Actions chip.

As far as I know from what I read on mympxplayer.org the new 4GB players can't be modified yet, can't extract nor import newer firmware. I'd ask those questions over there, they can help you a bit better and all my answers are based on what I've read there.

bleh.,..

I bit on a glacier and I just got it today.

i did a low level format, made everything a bit quicker, but after I did that, the glacier would randomly shut off and turn back on. Turns out to be that the battery compartment is too big for the battery.

So, I layer some electrical tape on the battery to push it toward the contacts...still no worky. The only time the player actually turns on, is if I use quite a bit of force and push the battery onto the contacts. And even then, when I do that, it just seems to hang at the screen with an hourglass.

It worked for a little while, i played with the fm stations for about a whole 2 minutes before the problems started.

I used the glacier on a road trip for the first time today.

Movies works great for the price was impressed
Music - Works awesome

The only bad thing about the glacier is the navigation between mp3's on folders.
I suggest if you put songs on the glacier to not do it in folders you'll cause yourself more problems for navigation.

Otherwise best cash i've spent all year :D

Loneraven, take a small pin or very small screwdriver and pry the contacts out a bit. They should form a V shape.

Or shim the battery more. Whichever you feel more comfortable doing.

Well, it seems like the pins are making contact already, but the player doesn't register until it's pushed all the way in.

And the pins already seem to be in a v shape (i'll post pictures at the end of the post), and I put alot of material to shimmy it in. I can probably keep at it later. But then what will I do with the hung hour glass screen? Any suggestions?

Folder navigation is easy but not intuitive.

When you are on a song (or video) ready to play (but not when playing) just hit the "M" button. You will get a menu and the "Local Folders" (or something similar) is ready to select. Select with the "M" button and you are now in folder navigation mode. Use "<<" and ">>" to move up and down. the "\" menu item will take you up a level when you press "M" on it. Pressing "M" while on a folder will navigate down into the folder.

You must end by pressing "M" on a song. This will throw you back to the ready to play mode with a new song ready and your folder position changed. If you wait too long the navigation mode times out and you go back where you started.

Pressing the "M" button while playing songs gets you to the EQ and repeat settings.

I've tried this. It lets me get to the root folder, but then it hangs for 2 seconds and then goes back to the song that was originally listed.

:(

My Glacier came in today. 14 days shipping.

They sent me a 1 gb. I don't think they did it maliciously, it says 1GB right on it. I emailed them. We'll see how this works out.

I got my 4 gig glacier. Got it in 5 days. So far its pretty cool, defiantly worth it. Some things they could improve on is making a louder external speaker, and have faster uploads. The video quality is pretty good too.
