...would you buy the Xeon 3070 over the E6700?

Are the Xeon's better OC'ers being a "server" cpu? (Maybe a higher bin?) Going to put together a new system soon and haven't really read anything about the Xeon cpu's being used by people. Are they new? Or do people just avoid them?

Thanks for any relevant info!

I doubt the Xeon would be a better overclocker.

I would recommend the C2D as those are where the OC potential is.

What I've heard from all those Xeons 3060-3070 are issues with the IHS being concave. I doubt it will be better than the E6xxx.

it's not like they do it on purpose. it could have just been a batch that's been shipping a lot of lately. you're hinting at the same thing though, but i just want to make it clear to everyone else.

It is.The IHS is designed to be 4 microns deeper in the centre.

Why would they do that?

I guess either to ensure the ihs is making decent contact with the core, which is centered, or based on the idea that when pressure of the heatsink goes down, it'll bow the ihs a little to make it just flat.

They are IDENTICAL, and just laser etched differently. Thats the only difference between the two, the writing on the IHS. Oh, and price.
