Motherboard: EVGA nforce 680i SLI

CPU: Intel Core 2 duo E6300 1.86Ghz (gonna try to overclock it..up to 3Ghz if i can keep it cool enough)

Video Card: EVGA Geforce 8800GTS

Memory: Corsair 2GB Kit DDR2-800 XMS2-6400

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA 3gb/s

Case: Antec Nine Hundred

Power Supply: (undecided) Corsair 620HX 620W

Optical Drive: (undecided) Lite-On It Super Allwrite SHM-165h6s

OS: WinXP


Eventually I might add another 8800GTS. This computer will be used mostly for gaming and storing music and videos. I have a budget of about $1500 and haven't really decided on a power supply or optical drive. Also any of the above mentioned parts can be changed as I have not bought anything yet. I've read about the Antec 900 to be quite the dust collector also, is there an efficient way to reduce the dust? Any reccommendations and/or advice would be appreciated. :)
 
Hey dude, i have the same board/processor/ram. Im running it at 3.09GB currently which i plan to up in the next few days. I do have an aftermarket cooler Thermalright xp-90 on my processor. With this rig in my Coolermaster Stacker 810 my cpu temp is runnin at 27C and case temps are about 19C. Thats off the top of my head so those numbers might be a little off since im at work right now. Also your power supply is perfect for what ya need i as well have a 620w, but if i were you, why not try some raid out man. Buy another HD, your system will run faster and read faster. I have 4 Seagate barracude 320GB sata drives in raid 0. In a week i plan on moving up to watercooling to try something new. Good luck with the overclocking, so far this has been the best board I've owned for overclockin goodness.

Ambient temperature in a room is around 25C, so I don't believe that your case temps would be that low unless you keep your room air conditioned in the winter. Anyway, the main reason I quoted you was to ask: why on earth would you run 4x320GB drives in RAID0? How fast is that? Got any benches?

To the OP, I would go for the HX520W and save some money, a single GPU will usually outperform two of the previous generation in SLI, so your best bet might be to sell your GTS when the upgrade time comes and use the money towards a better single card solution.

Well Antimatter, why not run a 1.2terabyte system. Im only using about 60GB out of the setup but the reason i run this is that my system performs alot better. Since all the information is written to the outsides of the discs first and im running 4 drives this lowers your seek and read times down alot which intern makes your system run faster. I do have some benches from HDtach but im at work again so no screen caps to add. If i remember I'll do it when i get home. Running any hd setup in raid is the way to go, Im all about speed and performance with my pc, I hate waiting for anything to load.

On another note i totally agree with you on the comment about a single GPU is better then SLI. I had two 7900gt in sli and i ended up blowing one of the cards. moved to a single x1900xtx and the performance was way better 3dmark06 scores went from 5975 with the sli setup to 6790 with my single. For the price you pay to get two good sli cards you can get one amazing powerhouse.
 
You're more than fine with that PSU, the Corsair line is great.
