Show Your LCD(s) setups!!!

Yep. Less is more. Thinner bezel, more black less silver, definitely not stainless, and simple lines. No speakers. If you can afford a nearly $1000 monitor, prolly you can afford speakers... If not the "attach them if you need them on the bottom" design wins out over the "wings" theory. Ask Sony how unpopular wing speakers are (very).

I guess Dell wins for a number of reasons beyond design however. Features are great. Consistent performance and a total satisfaction guarantee for 30 days are key. Super (and upgradeable) warranty is also useful. These all contribute to the buying experience. People generally feel more comfortable and less "at risk" buying a Dell lcd. That is why when they come out wrong, such as the banding issue, people are up in arms. It is a disturbance in the way things are expected to work with the Dell buying experience.

With a high budget item, Dell offers good design, good price or sometimes great price, superb satisfaction guarantee, and good warranty down the road. Do others do as well? Yes, but only "as well". And if you are only getting something "as good" why not buy from the best there is right now? The others have to beat Dell, not match them. Even Samsung is pretty happy sending many of their panels through Dell vs selling on their own. Even they realize the Dell formula is working well. And they are not a small company by any means.

I ask this because I still dont have any idea about what will be my next 20wide LCD screen...
About design its something very personnal.
I dont think Asus or Acer have done a very bad job, but that's sure the Dell 2007 is really cute.

What's the square tucked under the desk?

Very nice! I love corner desks. :D

I really like the Kerry VS. Bush poster, and how you have your TV attached up high. Very clean.

Sorry for the horrible pictures as you can see photography isn't my strong suit here it is anyways. Displays are a 215tw and a vp930b.

Thanks guys,

The square thing is an air purifier.

And yeah, the wallpaper is Evangeline Lilly. I think I found that particular wallpaper on Deviant Art, although I believe you can find it elsewhere.

Here it is:

Thanks.

Sorry for making you work twice as hard. I notced someone asked the same questions in the desktop thread after I has asked mine.

Does the purifier work well? I was browsing FS and the $499 model seems a little better in terms of area coverage. Does yours do a good job of cleaning the air or just your smelly feet? (given the placement).

Now that's a picture! As flush as can be with the straight lines of the desk.

why thank you, lol.

My desk is basically a door, notice the hole under my keyboard.
aah simplicity.

Hey, no problem.

Well, it depends how big your room is. That's in my bedroom and I think my bedroom is only 10X10. It's a pretty small room.

In my opinion the purifier works really well. It's always on, but it will go to a higher level if it senses something. And it's really sensitive. My brothers room is next door and he uses that Axe spray stuff, so once he sprays that stuff about 1 minute later the purifier comes on. If you happen to let one rip, it comes on as well.

I used to have it placed above my monitor, but then i moved it down on the floor under the desk a couple weeks ago and I don't see a difference really.

Anyway, if you have alergies or ashma or something like that you may be able to tell a big difference. I don't really have any of those so I can't really see a dramatic difference with or without it. I think it does help sleeping though. Waking up I could be a bit stuffy, and now I don't really have that problem anymore. I figured I could use the pruifier since the room is a pretty small space and sometimes I spend a lot of time there with the computer on and such so it couldn't hurt to have it. I think it's a pretty good investment and i'm glad I got it. Even if it is only a placebo for me, but I don't think it is.

My modest setup, compared to the rest of you guys... & no, I didn't clean anything...

IMG_2685-1.jpg

That's a 17" Viewsonic Optiquest Q7B3, 8ms, 500:1 contrast and an older 15" compaq 5017m... waiting on my other 17'' to come back..
I just bought a house so most of my extra $$$ is going to that, let me tell you, once you have your own, walking around Lowe's is a new experience :D

LOL, I did the same thing man.. I had a one bedroom apt in college and didn't have a desk to put my computer on.
Well, I noticed the closet door was serving no purpose so I unscrewed it and put it on top of a file cabinet, worked great... :p:D

Excellent solution. Congrats !
My desk is a 42-inch-wide, 6ft-long solid wood door, mounted at desk-height in a U-shaped alcove, between two walls.
It has 16 coats of Polyurethane hi-gloss varnish. It's slippery n' glossy as greased pig.
The doorknob hole is to rear, and all cables feed down thru it, and are held up, outta site, by many elcheapo (10-cents each) screw-hooks from hardware store.
Result: No cables are on floor, no cables are visible. Area under desk is totally clutterfree----a pleasure to see.

PC resides in custom made (lined with nylon rug pieces) Box (under the desk) and is open at both ends, thus has plenty of air circulation.
PC's cables are also tucked-up under desk, totally outta sight.

Above the desk is shelf full of verticle-ringbinders, all in a neat row. Every game, every piece of software (WinXP, Nero, HP printer, etc. etc.) is in its own 1-inch Ringbinder, clearly labeled.
Result: No piles of discs or piles of paper or desk-clutter anywhere, and everything is "instantly-viewable, instantly-acessible".

I agree with you that you just can't beat building yer own PC-area, using el-cheapo hardware parts, old doors, n' elbow-grease. And, it frees up more loot$$ for a bigger LCD monitor. :D

My Office chair is very comfortable high-back swivel type, with wings on either side (at head-height, giving head support, so I can drop off, take a nap, without getting neck-cramps). Talk about a lazy bum !! :D

Great work!.
i was gunna put my door hole to the back, but i never got around to it (some day).
if you make your own stuff (desk), its easier to make it fit with the style/comfort of the room, but buying it is less work.
and the leg room under my doordesk is great. :D

Humm, maybe we need a sticky on how to build your own custom computer table... get some ideas goin...
I'm looking for a new one and everything looks so cheap these days (thin wood, etc) and they want too much for the quality stuff... I was thinking about hitting Lowe's and getting some 1" thick 6 foot boards and building a quality desk by myself, stain it dark and some of that clear coat... Build alittle shelf on the end for my Printer/modem/router.... Be better then anything at officemax and cost half as much.. I got mad power tools :D Anybody build their own?????????????? Wait, I'm going off topic huh?? oops :p

Wow that's a real cute chick !! err, back on topic: what monitor is that?
