Annual Folding@Home bigadv EOL 5th Anniversary Challenge

Welcome aboard! Hope to hear some trash talk from you, lol.
Thanks! I'll save most of my trash talk until the event is underway since I have zero clue who y'all's heavy hitters are lol.
So, are you guys ready for the beat down that's coming your way in a few days? I'll send some tissues your way if need be.
Be sure to save a few for yourself. You might be surprised.

With less than 1 day 18 hours to go and if you have a new FAH user name created or just first time participating in FAH, please make sure you run and validate at least 10 WUs WITH a passkey. For passkey benefit, see here. You should create passkey and use it the first time you crunch the FAH WU.

In summary, to get passkey directly go to : https://apps.foldingathome.org/getpasskey and make sure you crunch at least 10 WUs with passkey.

And make sure all your clients are using the right info - especially team number.

How do I join? I just signed for the passkey. I need the team number

With less than 16 hours left. Some teams are ramping up while others are planning the first wave of attack.

It remains exciting when the race starts....

I can tell you, regaurdless of how we end up, that we are taking this as serious fun. We are going to get at it the best we can with the intention of winning. We hope that the best of ya'all enjoy second place. Now lets see how many of those words I have to eat in a week.

I hope that each team is getting more people involved and I hope that it results in an active membership that lasts a while. Thank you again for hosting us and letting us in on the fun. Our membership has had a sharp increase and then decrease. Not sure what's going on there but we'll see. As of this writing, we have 55 active folders which is more than our usual ~40 but less than the 66 we had last week.

They may be waiting for the challenge to start. I been testing and shutting down because of the primegrid challenge going on. I can use the heat but not that much at once.
Have had to fox a couple boxes, found that if a box sits too long without being turned on they can have issues when started for some reason. But I think I am ready now.
Went to clean this system and found this. So I taped and wire tied a 90mm fan until I can get the replacements. EVGA 3080FTW

Good luck everyone.

If anyone is interested, over at the Overclockers.com/forums, I have our main thread on the race itself. Not our trash talk (yet). Just what I think the scoring is and what not. https://www.overclockers.com/forums/threads/un-official-race-week-thread.804761/#post-8203077

If you guys have separate threads on this and other forums, I would be interested in reading them and learning how to better do my scoring/reporting.
Firefly from ExtremeHW created their own individual tracking here: https://ehwfoldingstats.lazypenguin.com/ and also posted the link in the main result thread. Something that we should think in the future if we want to promote this race once a year for 7-days challenge. Unfortunately, I've limited programming experience other than basic scripting in windows and linux for mostly BOINC-related stuff. Let see what we can learn from this one week race. We had four previous races with TAAT and pretty much basic stat reporting.

Without overthinking it, we could probably put the data info in a google sheet and share it with all? Team leaders get edit access, everyone else is view only.

I can likely update our stats to support multiple teams for next year. We can discuss after the event and see what we can come up with for next year as far as automated/"live" stat tracking.

Sound like a great idea! Thanks man!

I've updated the team reasult at Day0.25 (6 hours into the race). Overclockers.com is leading the way!

Dang we are last currently.:(

Hopefully, I will get my desktop with a 4070 back online this evening. It kept crashing the other day when I folded for a few hours. Possible PSU or overheating issues were taking it down.

RTX 2070 died. She's folding in spirit, now.

Ghost Folder.png

Might let it run and see where it ranks on the charts. Maybe a spiritual 4090 topper.

0.25 of a day in and I don't hve to eat any of my words. Thank goodness as I'm not hungry for words at the moment. I need to find the main results page. Found it. I've posted all teams (in this race) total points in my thread at Oc.com (linked above). Not official by any means. Not sure if that's of help.

Individual [H] contributors after 0.5 day of race can be found here, same as the team results.

I'm barely in top 10, lol. Going to be a neck-to-neck race with sparksnmagic ... and watch my six for [H]ugh_Freak.

Top 100 contributors for today. Also posted in our main result page.

dirty done did me dirty and took spot 27 and bumped me to 28!

At least dirty is in top 100 list just based on today's output. Where are your mining rigs, lol

P.S. Today's output will include total up to 12 midnite CST. This is only half day, so you still got 12 hours to catch up ;)

I sold all but two GPUs! Fixing to buy a 4070 Ti Super this year sometime so that I can put towards next year's challenge!

I’m 27th? Gotta be kidding me. Good thing I just drove over to microcenter for reinforcements. Bye bye 1080ti
I was off to a slow start, but even with what I managed to get spun up I won't be cracking top 20. Been strongly considering a Microcenter run. What did you end up grabbing? Too bad the 4080 Super isn't out until the 31st.

Asus TUF 4070 Ti Super. The 4080 Super is almost certainly the better option, but if I waited I couldn't use the new hardware on the race. As it is, the Ti Super is dramatically faster than the 1080ti that I was using on that box.
