    Removing AG-Coating from Acer XB270HU?

Has anyone done it? My unit is perfect in every way, except the sparkle which is causing eyestrain. How anyone can think this coating is acceptable is beyond me. At certain angles the coating is clearly visible. It's a refurbished unit I got cheap so warranty not a concern.

PWM flicker fix - add resistor to lower LED brightness

Most LED monitors need to be run at quite a low brightness to prevent blindness. Unfortunately this is where PWM becomes a major problem. If one placed a resistor before the LEDs, you could take the brightness down to such a level that 100% brightness on the display would be acceptable for every...

Asus VG236 and VG278 Service Menu

I spent ages trying to find this, so in an effort to never forget I'll post here and help others too. 1. Power On 2. Hold Menu - keep held and never let go 3. Unplug power lead 4. Re-insert power lead (2 seconds is long enough to wait) 5. Wait until Input selection message (DVI/VGA etc) has...

    Which 24" IPS 1920x1200 with AG-coating <$400?

Ive ruled out the Dell u2412m due to backlight flicker. I'm currently looking at the NEC 2490wuxi (second-hand) or HP ZR2440w (ex-dem). Are there any other quality displays in my price range, new or second-hand? The display is to be used in portait mode. A good stand would be nice but not crucial.

Which 120hz monitor has the lowest "average" response time?

So my 4th Sony FW900 has caught the dreaded loss of focus/popping bug and I'm stuck using a Samsung 2233rz. Since another FW900 could take 6 months to appear, I need something to tide me over. Is there a 120hz display that can actually display a fluid 120fps? The Samsung 2233rz cannot. Doing...

    Which radiator for semi-passive setup?

I'm considering a watercooled setup for my next PC. It would consist of one radiator/pump loop for the gpu and another for the cpu. However, silence is my biggest concern. The pumps will be placed inside a reservoir and then into a thick sound proof box with foam padding. This should eliminate...

Displayport to DVI-D adapter for 120hz

Will any active adapter that claims support for 2560x1600 work at 1680x1050@120hz or 1920x1080@120hz? Technically the bandwidth requirement is fine, but can they run at 120hz?

    Triple buffering and crossfire/sli

I can't seem to find a concrete answer. Does this work with multiple cards using d3doverider in directx games? The anandtech article states categorically that it will not work, but then dozens of people on various forums seem to think it does. I guess it could simply be defaulting to vsync only...

    Logitech G500 revision 2 - eta?

It's generally agreed that the g500 side buttons are the worst of any mouse ever created. Does anyone have news on the expected rev. 2?

Dual link DVI cable, 10m too long?

Has anyone used one this long? I need it to power a 120hz display, so will be pushing the limits of the cable at any length.

Gigabyte Easytune + Dynamic voltage = inaccurate vcore reported

Gigabyte p55 ud5 + i5 750 I've set cpu voltage to normal and dynamic voltage to +0.05. All reporting software (including easytune hw monitor) shows the peak voltage to be Normal + Dynamic (1.26 + 0.05) = 1.31 under single core load. However, I'm concerned about what easytune is reporting...

    ATI and Displayport?

Do the 57xx and 58xx cards use Displayport 1.2? I can't seem to find any information on the web. With the expected release of 120hz high-res monitors in 2010/11, one would hope these new (and expensive) cards had the bandwidth to power them. Displayport 1.1 will NOT run 2560@120hz.

32" 1080p TVs to avoid for PC use

I'm slowly going through every 32" 1080p panel out there, making full use of the DSA for online purchases here in the UK. Eventually I hope to find one worth keeping, but so far I'm less than impressed :( Samsung 5 series Latest models use a cheap chinese panel and have severe ghosting. It's...
