Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

Just got an omega code off reddit for $24 so im happy lol. now to decide if I want to keep it or melt my delta and us credit to ccu this omega into a cutlass :p

Delete the whole USER folder at \StarCitizen\CitizenClient\USER. It's a quick fix for a lot of weirdness, like buying/melting ships in the hangar.

i have one CCU'd up to an avenger atm and one upgraded to a Delta atm.

not sure what i want to stop them at.

I upgraded my Omega to Delta, and my 2-year insurance Aurora to an Avenger. The suckerpunch cannons from the Avenger actually work really well with the Delta. They slow down the target and make it easier to hit with rockets.

I haven't been following this game after dogfight alpha, so help me out.

I remember something about being able to design your ships, and maybe even selling them afterwards. With many models coming out, and those being sold in dollars, wouldn't one be pointless?
(sold ship being able to be designed and crafted making the premade ship not worth the value, or sold ships being somewhat unique, limiting the designing)

They have already done this, they held a contest asking people to design and submit ships, finally a winner was chosen and was put up for sale. I think they also sold the runner up, wasn't it the redeemer and reclaimer?

no, they only sold the winner which was the redeemer.

They also ended up hiring some of the contestants for the quality of their work.

Just to clarify, yes they have done this but its not like anyone can just go and put there own ship in the game with huge pew pew guns and 2000 missiles and crap and start selling it for whatever price you want.

It was a contest, with strict design requirements and parameters. The end result was a ship that fit in very well with the other ships and also inline with other ship prices. It was a very lengthy and professional process.

This video is supposedly of the old Idris but the guy assumed the stats from the ship specs page had not been updated. So this is in fact the new Frigate sized Idris with a full interior walkthrough.

Headphone users be warned the wub wub music might destroy your ears.

oh, so you can't design the ships in game? (as a feature in game)

nope.

the only way to make ships and get them into the game is to mod the game and play on a private server then you have the freedom to change and add what you want or spawn any ship you want.

but the PU is heavily lore driven much like a star wars universe in that changes to the PU will be directly canon based and not really be something player can add too in major ways unless it is a player participated event or mission or killing an important npc or making discoveries that etch your place within the lore, but players can not make unique items and ships within the game.

now if a mod is exceptionally well done and balanced and makes sense and improves the game in a meaningful way CiG will likely choose to implement it within the PU if they want too, so if you have a ship you really want to make and its amazing there is always the chance they will notice and want to put it in the game.

Pardon my ignorance, what is the middle size ship in between the idris and the connie?

Anvil Carrack

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships/carrack/Carrack

The Anvil Carrack features reinforced fuel tanks for long-duration flight, an advanced jump drive, and a dedicated computer core for jump charting operations. Originally a military exclusive, the Carrack is now available for civilian use. On-board accommodations include crew medical and repair facilities, and a mapping-oriented sensor suite.

Non-gaming site, that's the key.

They are not under any pressure to compete for clicks with other gaming sites so they don't have to resort to cheap clickbait tactics like bashing the game. Those other sites do it on purpose to attract traffic knowing full well both critics and fans of the game will show up and clash in the comments section.

And this is why I never go to gaming websites.

From a friend:

WARNING: AMD has started a new verification program to redeem AMD Radeon Gold (and other, I assume) keys. So if you buy a Gold key off of eBay, you likely won't be able to use it. I had one reward left and decided to go ahead and redeem it today, and I had to send them a picture of the actual card w/ the number scratched off and a copy of my receipt.

I just thought there might be some temptation to snag a code or ten before the 31st when the current crop of rewards expire. If you do, you may get stuck with it. Just thought I'd let y'all know.

wow for real? glad I got my $25 code a few days ago lol. I see one of two things happening we will see photoshop pictures will pop up for others to put their code in and email out, or original owners of codes will redeem their AMD code and just sell off the individual codes. That's how it works on the star citizen trades reddit page, guys just sell the AMD omega codes for $20-$25 then go to other sites to sell other keys.

When you do that, do you use another program to compress it better before uploading?

yeah, i edit my videos with sony vegas so you can retain quality with better compression codecs than what the capture stuff uses.

really any video editing software will work tho.

i never capture something and just upload the same video that was recorded usually it either needs trimmed or edited in some way.

The ones I recorded the other day were done in Fraps. It records with no compression and can include your mic. I record to a different drive than the one the game is on. A typical swarm match was a 30+gb file, then you can compress it with virtualdub or whatever. I turned them into 6mbs xvid+mp3 files with a size of about 1gb to upload to youtube.

Looks like CIG Germany is going to be a thing in the near future. Got to pick up those crytek programmers.

Support, got around to un-melting my 890jump last night, melted it so i could get the idris-p and then free'd up the credits to unmelt it shortly after.

feels good having the 890 back, just lacking my super hornet sucks since i can't actually fly the 890 jump right now lol.

You can borrow my SH Wildace ;)

I'm getting all excited with all the news. I am deployed in Afghanistan at the moment. Should be back shortly to unleash the fury of my SH. Haven't played since AC .92. Will defiantly be one of the escorts of the Idris

I will get my super back at some point, it is just a matter of time really :)

So one thing I noticed about Arena commander is that it seems like the Hangar Module guys are really dropping the ball.

There are so many glitches and things that don't work properly in the Hangar Module, which then affect the ship in Arena Commander. The Arena Commander portion work really well and is much more polished and bug free than the Hangar Module, which is weird because you figure the Hangar Module needs much less effort.

Maybe resources from the Hangar module were directed to work on other things such as Planetside and FPS, but they really need to clean up their mess and don't leave things in such a buggy state, as it gives a very bad impression.

Yes I know its still "Pre-Alpha" but this is low hanging fruit which they could clean up if they just spent a little time on it.

Yea, considering that the hangar is going to be part of the social module that comes out possibly in March. I am happy with the hangar as it is (except that you need to put the ship into the hangar from the website before you see it in-game), but I can not WAIT for that dam hototable to go away like a bad hangover.

The holotable while being a cool idea needs a lot of work.

Another thing is saving the settings, I hate needing to go to the holotable to configure my ships loadout every-time, if I forgot to do that and then join a game it wastes so much time. I wished it would save the settings, really it cant be that hard to implement that.

They need to spend less time on retarded things like fish tanks and towels and spend those resources on the important things that will actually be a part of the game.

Overall though, I am happy with the progress, I just feel like time and resource management is not being done correctly.

Before 1.0, the game did save your settings on holo table *sometimes*. Would really love to have changed to all the time.

As for the resource management, its alot better than what it was before and it looks like it is still improving, which is big plus for me.
