Hey guys,

I've been waiting for a ZEROtherm ZT-10D CPU Air Cooler since the glowing [H] review here:
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/11/18/zerotherm_zt10d_cpu_air_cooler_review/

It's been out of stock forever but Newegg finally has this:
ZT-10D Smart
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835887037&Tpk=ZT-10D Smart

Not only is it 5$ cheaper than the review's listed price, but it also includes a fan. So, I went to the ZEROtherm's website to figure out the difference is between the two, I get these two pages:
http://www.zerotherm.net/eng/product/ZT_10DP.asp
http://www.zerotherm.net/eng/product/ZT_10D.asp

The first of the two links looks the same as the review version, but the weight, surface area, and same weight, surface area, heat pipes, etc are the same between the two. The main difference seems to be a lack of nickel plating, and the watt rating for the "Smart" version is 200 watts instead of 300 watts.

So, will this "Smart" version perform similar to the reviewed version?

Hey guys,

Due to the rated watts, I would imagine that the "Smart" version performs worse than the reviewed heatsink. Not that I know for sure.

EDIT: Changed my mind :p perhaps the reviewed cooler was a bit optimistic with the watts. They do seem awfully similar.

Exactly. The surface area, fins, heatpipes, and surface area is the same, which makes me confused about the huge price difference. The "premium" version with the nickel coating sells for 15$ more without a fan worth at least 10$. I ordered the "smart" version and it's been shipped but it'll be a while before I get to use it. Waiting for Bulldozer and that could be months away.

The fact that the review links to the Smart's info page, and not the Premium might be a hint as well.

Looks like they actually use ZT-10D for the Smart on the website, and ZT-10DP for the Premium.
