So we've been using shuttles on all projects for the past few years. I'm comfortable with them - we have a nice factory running when we need to build a half dozen - no real big problems.

So my boss gets the ida to change things and wants me to examine mini-itx boards for use instead of the shuttles.

Never heard of Zotac mainboards but they seem to review well. Others thoughts and opinions?

Use will be to run our vessel monitoring system - which runs under winxp - reads network packets, and does a lot of math on the data - then displays the data. Looking at the mini-box cases as well. Will require +24V P/S - looks like the m2atx-HV fits the bill.
 
I've got a Zotac i630 (non-wireless) mini-ITX and I'm very happy with it. Inexpensive, uses little power (50w idle, 75w load) with E5200 and 4g DDR2. Currently using a "hefty" Corsair 520w module PSU, will be moving to a picoPSU later when I decide on a case (currently in a LL V350 - almost funny to look at).

And I've loved all three boards. I bought the 7100 to replace the mobo in my KPC so that I could have a better mobo that has DVI onboard. It works really well as a replacement for the 945 based IGP board that use to be in the KPC.

The 8200 is going to eventually replace my 6150 based HTPC, testing it out and it works really well. I'm just wanting for software to overhaul my current HTPC with it.

The 9300 is used as a slight gaming rig. Slight because I only have a 9600GSO right now since I had to sell my 4850. I works awesomely though.

If you're building Office type machines then the 7100 Zotac board is your best bet, it almost sounds like you'll want a nice CPU and the 7100 will take a Quad if you need that kind of power.
 
Yeah, I've got the first one... It's a good board. Got it running an E5200 and 2x2g g.skill.
 
What these are for: Shipboard monitoring. Sort of a black box deal. One thing thats almost paramount is that it needs to run on 24V - Mini-box has a few power supplies that fit that. Good to know that people have positive results so far. CPU isn't that important - provided its at least 1.5ghz P4 speed. (thats the low end of what we need to make our software work).

Just ordered the i630 board to go in the mini-box 350 enclosure, will let ya know how it all turns out.
 
Yeah, I just picked up a M350 from them earlier this week, can't wait to give it a spin as it looks like a great case.
