Zone 2 and subwoofer using the same input..

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if my Pioneer 1123-k AVR can handle this situation. Right now I have a regular set of 5 small satellite speakers and a Klipsch sub hooked up to the AVR. It's used for gaming and movies on PS4/Xbox One on a 27" monitor attached to a gaming cockpit (for racing games, flight sims, etc). My PC and desk is in the same (small) room, just on the opposite side. I have a DisplayPort-only monitor that is of course connected to the DP on my PC, and then I have HDMI connected to an input on the AVR. This lets me easily switch to the cockpit monitor and play racing games/flight sims on it and do browsing/fps gaming/work/whatever on the desktop.

As you can see the sound directions are thrown out of wack if I'm using the same satellites while gaming or watching stuff on the desktop. My question is, can I hook up two more speakers (on the desk) to the Zone 2 outputs on the AVR, and have it output the same source, and while using the sub?

Doubtful the zone 2 would make use of the sub, since it's often used for outdoor or different room speakers, thus the "zone 2" part.

My suggestion is to get an AB speaker switch such as this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-2-Way-Pair-4-Speaker-Selector-Switch-Box-Switcher-/261030052427

And use it to switch out your FL / FR from TV to desk as needed. You should also be able to set your AVR to 2.1 mode so the center and RL/RR are disabled when using the computer, or your positional audio will be screwy.

Second option is if your sub has more than one type of connection, RCA and speaker wire passthrough. If it's got both, you can hook up your zone2 cables to the sub first, then to your desktop speakers. Just don't have zone2 running at the same time as your primary audio.

Third option is get a good set of headphones for gaming on the desk, as you'll probably want a mic anyway for some games.
