Why do desktop owners pretend they care about power consumption?
I see it so many times when they are listing why one thing is better than another. "and it has better power consumption"
Honestly, unless its so horrible you would need a PSU upgrade do you really care?

Yes. It isn't my main reason for buying something but if it can save me a few bucks in the long run why not?

Good point, If it conumes 20% more and is left on 24/7 then that could be a considerable amount on your electric bill.
 
It's actually pretty simple. More power = more heat. Heat = enemy to quiet cases and those that OC...
 
a quiet computer allows a better computing environment, because alot of us have the computer on while doing other things. for example i dont want to hear the equivalent of a jet plane taking off while trying to enjoy a tv show.

Asian Dub is on the money on this one. I have my main machine in my room where I sleep(poor college student). Machine needs to be reasonable. Pretty much I don't want to be able to notice it over a tv or something.
