I am currently running a FreeNAS 7.1 , with 5x2TB hard drives in a ZFS array.

Is it possible to preserve this array off between operating systems? I would like to purchase some beefier hardware and move to Ubuntu Server, combined with zfs-fuse.

Is this a good idea? Normally I would get some more hard drives and back up my ~6TB worth of data and reformat the drives, but I can't afford that right now.

Thanks!

I dont think zfs-fuse is going to be a good idea.. from what I've read, its much much slower than the real thing. Why not run FreeBSD, ZFSGuru, or napp-it?

Thanks for the help, folks. I have no issues with FreeBSD or ZFSGuru. I'll consider my options once I get some hardware picked out.
