Zalman 9700

I put one on my new system's Q6600.
The chip is OC'ed to 3.0 from 2.4.

The Zalman fan takes a long time (heat controlled) to come on from cold start.
Just the passive capability of this cooler works great and when the silent fan kicks in it is fantastic.

I've looked at these within the past few weeks, but have been hesitant to get one based on the size. Can you tell me what the height is from the CPU to the top, just so I can get a feel for whether it will fit in my case or not? I'm looking at getting a G0 Q6600 and have a Coolermaster Centurian case like this one:

I had to remove the case's side panel cone.
The Zalman has an inch to spare.
It fits great.

Should fit with no issues. I have an Antec 900, and it fits with plenty of room.

Thanks for the comment on the Antec900 i was looking to get this cooler, 2 questions tho, First how do you have it mounted? blowing up at the 200mm or the back 120mm? Also i have an EVGA 680i T1 Board and was wondering how well it fits with that. THanks

I have my Zalman 9700 mounted to blow towards the 120mm since I'm a sucker for blue LEDs.

Toward the back (the 120). This is a better arrangement for case air-flow, maintaining a front-to back direction. Putting it towards the 200 would make the air do a right hand turn from back to up.

its roughly 5 5/8 inches tall, about 143mm from my measurements..

I also have it blowing towards the 120 in the back, thats proper flow.


i love it, I have fans blowing on it from outside...and those fins LOVE that outside air...
