Alright I purchased an Xtasy X850XT PE a couple days ago, and I like the performance, but I seem to be getting some weird electronic hiss when running Direct 3D Games (or anything thats not Open GL), and its not from the speakers or the monitor (monitors are known to emit a "squeel" towards the end of their life), This happens when even using ATI Tools 3D view, and I'm not talking about the "whir" from the fan (I actually like the powerful sound it produces), but an additional sound that emits from the card or fan. But when using 3D view on ATI Tool It Hisses, but the second I close 3D view it stops. I'm stumped, I don't have onboard video enabled, and I think I might have to exchange the card. But before I make the drive out to Fry's I'd really like to find out if this is a normal hiss, or if there is seriously wrong with the card. Thx for any suggestions...

Your PC is almost exactly the same as mine... same processor, same chipset, same memory, same video card. No, I don't notice a "hiss," but my PC is pretty noisy from all of my case fans so I don't know if it's just being blocked out by all of the fan noise.
I don't know why you'd only be getting this with Direct3D games, that seems strange. So, the hiss is coming *directly* from the computer? An "electric" sounding hiss? Normally I would suggest speakers, since all crappy speakers do that, but since you said the sound isn't from that... I don't know.
Here's one thing: check to see if you can hear the hiss briefly when you start up your computer. If that's the case, then the fan could be winding up louder in the Direct3D games you have than in the OpenGL ones, and it's a crummy fan problem.

I can also hear a slight 'hiss' when certain things are running. ATiTool included. Doesn't bother me but I can't tell if its coming from my system ram or GPU ram.
