I've looked around the forums, buit I can't find enough info just for me :p
Anyway, I'm going to a lan party a week from friday, & am thinking of getting an lcd before then. Why criteria is, I dont exactly need a super good LCD, just one to go to lan parties, & then use it @ home as well, since I'm sure it's better than my current crappy 19" CRTs.
What I would like:

Games well, doesn't have to be 16ms, I've played UT on my friends really old Thinkpad, & ghosting didnt really bother me all that much

Has good contrast ratio/brightness/pixel pitch, I don't really know what is/isnt good, but whatever you say, I hope your right :rolleyes:

Most of all, I low in price, I dont want to spend a ton, but I will be upgrading to a 6800gt or whatever later, so if it'll really make a big differnece, I might put a couple bucks down for it. I quess then I might want DVI for the future videocard, but I dont know how much of a difference DVI really makes, so I don't know.
Flat out, I would really like to kepp it under $300, maybe $350US.
 
DVI is pretty much a must have for games. In your price range I would suggest sticking with a good CRT. I’m afraid you will be very disappointed in any LCD in that price range, especially for gaming.

ya for 300-350 bucks you cant really get a decent LCD right now at that price, let alone for gaming. BUT that will buy you a really nice big CRT that is perfect for gaming =)
 
I have viewsonic vg191 (a 19" LCD) and its perfect for gaming, and I would rather use an LCD for gaming that a CRT. Moreover, when you buy an LCD get one with a DVI connector, it makes a big difference at least to me it does :D
 
Hey man,

I recently purchased this lcd screen, and i am very happy with it... As for DVI being a must for gaming, i dont exactly agree with, but to each his own... I bought this lcd for $370 shipped at www.buy.com (make sure to scan google for coupon codes, cause i found a ton!) I thought this was going to probably be one of the better monitors for gaming that fits your price range... Either way, I hope you find a good one;)

DVI is way overrated:rolleyes:But still, to keep up with tech these days it is a "must have"
 
DVI vs Analog will make zero difference in gaming..especially on a 17" LCD at 1280X1024..

check out the 710N its the analog only version of the 710T and its a 12ms 17" LCD...

I've never seen it for $350 but I've seen it for $380 ish...

Its a great monitor for the price..
 
Thx for the replies, I get that my wishes were way to lhigh for my price range, & I think my back can handle a crt, since I dont go to that many anyways. Thx though.
