Not sure if this is the right forum, but mods can move it to more appropriate if needed...

I have a Dell Dimension 4600
3.02 533
1gb 4x256
CDRW
DVDRW
x800 Pro
80gb 2mb

first thing i did when i got it a yr ago (one of those 200 rebate deals) was cut a 120mm hole and mount a fan to pull air in

next i got an Antec trublue 480w PSU

now if your not familar, my dell has a rear exhaust fan with an obnoxious green fan shroud (duct) over the cpu heatsink (rather than placing a fan directly on the hs) , and as a result one of the fans on my PSU is essentially blocked, my goal is to remove the shroud, and install a normal intel hs... and keep both fans temp controlled

after a little flippin around ive come to the conclusion that hs mounting bracket might needs to be replaced, and ill purchase a hs, my question comes with the exisiting rear exhuast fan, and the new intel hs fan...

i believe the current fan is temp controlled, as it speeds up during games and such, and i immagine the new fan on the retail p 4 478 hs is too (im not sure).

can i use one of those 3 pin Y-cables for the 1 cpu fan spot on my mobo?

bracket - 6.00 on ebay shipped
intel hs - 10+ or so on ebay shipped
3pin Y cable - 3.00 on ebay shipped

it is my main system right now use it for both work and gamin,

thats my plan, just curious what any of ya think or any reccomendations as to how might accomplish my goal with another method?

EDIT: i just thought of somethin, does the temp controlled fan (existing rear exhaust fan) just receive more power as the cpu temp rises, will splitting this effect the fans on the "Y", hmmm any help would be apreciated EDIT

thanks again,
-P
