Hello, I was looking at the Xspc rasa 750, I was wondering if anyone had any tips or what they thought.. I am planning on replacing the tubing with a blue tubing... I also want to do compression fittings.... I thought about switching to 7/16s size hose too... Its easier to flex i think.. im a newbe with liquid cooling and wanted to get it.... I have a corsair h50 now...

Any advice or tips first time thanks :)

from what ive read these are very good kits for the money. they come with quality parts and do a great job of cooling.
 
I just installed a Rasa kit three weeks ago. I got the RX360 from jab-tech. Paid something like $199 shipped. It was my first venture into watercooling and it is doing a fantastic job. Lowered CPU temps nearly ten degrees (mid 40's to mid 30's on an X6) from a push/pull H50.
The tubing is not the greatest though, it tends to want to kink very easily. If your working in a tight case your going to want better tubing. The only think the kit is missing is a kill coil so don't forget to pick one up if you go that route.

What is a kill coil? I plan on getting blue tubing What brand would you recommend? What is that additivie that doesnt let stuff grow in the water? Thanks

A silver kill coil is a small piece of pure silver that you put in your loop somewhere (mine is in the reservoir). It prevents the growth of bacteria that would accumulate in the loop with out it. Some people also use PT Nuke. They basically are designed to do the same thing.

As far as tubing goes tygon is regarded as the best but they are expensive and I don't believe they have blue tubing. Primochill or Feser would probably be your best bet for colored tubing. (someone correct me if I am wrong)

It all depends on your budget and what you want to cool (CPU only or CPU + GPU). You cannot beat the performance of the kit for what you pay. If you have $250-$300 to spend then go the custom route if your going to be changing everything thing anyways. Which kit were you looking at? Was it the RS240?

yes, i was looking at that one.. I know i dont have enough money for a CPU+GPU setup but i could spend 200 on a CPU loop if it did better then the RS240 and i already have some fans for the rad...

With a silver kill coil or PT nuke + Blue tubing + distilled water you should be under the $200 mark quite easily. It will be tough to make a custom loop for under $200, and match the quality of the XSPC kit unless you searched for used parts.

For a loop of res>pump>CPU Block>Radiator you'd need 6 compressions if you use a pump top reservoir like the XSPC DDC pump top for the MCP-355 and 8 if you use the Swiftech Micro-Res.

I'm sorry, but do you have a link to the kit?

I don't know about "better" per se, but the parts I referenced are quality parts and will last a long time in many configurations.

the advantage of parts instead of a kit, is you get to select the parts you use, not what someone selects.

That said, you might want to look at this: Swiftech 's - H20-X20 Edge Series,
now this is a complete kit, but features some of the parts I referenced and is an all inclusive kit.......but 310 dollars......you can part it out cheaper, as we had demonstrated.

I'll be glad to help you where I can. I've built a number of WC systems and like to do it as economically as I can. Or ask the guys at Sidewinders, they are very helpful in selecting parts, etc.

I changed the res and thats it and the total was 271.22 thats pretty expensive....would it be worth it compared the the rasa kit?

If you buy the XSPC kit, you don't need a reservoir, the pump in that kit is submerged in the dual bay reservoir.....that's what I don't like....the submerged part. If the pump goes south, you practically have to replace the whole thing, reservoir and pump.

Also, you don't have to use compression fittings, they ARE pricey. You could buy plastic bards for next to nothing or buy Bitspower silver barbs, 1/2'' with clamps 2 for 6 bucks.

No i was talking about what u sent me i changed your res out with that one......and yeah i never thought about that and thepum you sent me iv heard alot of good things about i think ill try to go with it... Ill put it in a 5" bay mount the res on the back board and then mount the rad across the top of the case...what do you think?

On the upside the res/pump combo is only $70. That's still cheaper than just replacing most pumps alone.

All I am saying is basically your getting the XSPC pump/res for practically nothing ($20-$30). If you want you can sell it here and pick up a different res and or pump. You can take the $70 you saved and buy a 355 or 655.

Thats very much true... I think ill do that but is that rad any good? Im changing the hoses out anyways so ill throw that in there too...

Flush the rad with boiled distilled water and vinegar that's about it for initial setup. Rad will need to be dusted otherwise the fans will fail to push air through them resulting in high temps. To test the loop for leaks use the paper clip trick on the PSU to start up the loop without actually running you PC hardware. Make sure when you start the loop the pump is primed with water if you run it without water you will kill it.
