XPpro vs SBS03

Im currently running my torrent machine/file server off of XP pro.

This may be a dumb question, but what would moving to small business server 03 get me over running XP pro? How downsides? How different would it be to manage?

Um- it is a server. So you could say there would be a change involved...

Why are you looking at switching to one in the first place?

Id like to setup exchange to do push email when I get my smartphone. As well as do html and ftp hosting. And I just like to play with new toys.

if you want to go to exhange i suggest a seperte dedicated box, using your system as a deskrtop hosting server apps isnt going to make it a very responsive rig.

Does your ISP allow HTTP and FTP servers, many dont and you can get blocked if you do.

also your ISP will likely block port 25 so you are forced to use their SMTP's, so you might not even be able to host email.

also there is likely better options then exchange just to send emails to a smartphone, exchange is overkill for just that, not worth $700 for SBS jus to do that.

price isn't the issue.
the box is dedicated to being a server. the laptop and gaming machines are seperate. It already sits in a closet as is.
