First time poster, looking for some advice....

To start from the beginning, a few days ago, I had left my computer on during the night and went to school the next day. So I come home and attempt to play the usual games, Urban Terror (q3mod). Anyway, I start getting VPU errors, sometimes its able to recover, sometimes not. So I google a way to solve the probelm and nothing I find works, keeps happening. This problem is consistent with other games as well.

So I turn my computer off for the next day, go to school, when I come home, I cant even boot to windows. Sometimes it takes me to the logo screen, and auto restarts, sometimes not. So I attempt to reformat, thinking I just had a bad windows install. And after trying to set up windows, I get a ntfs.sys blue screen of death error. I cant Repair windows, because of some error I cant remember, basically it was just numbers.

So I'm thinking that my hard drive has died on me, but it doesnt really make sense if sometimes I get the logo screen and it STARTS to load, but then just restarts.

before you get to the windows boot screen press F8 and go to safe mode, check what is starting in msconfig, try shut shit off that you don't know what it is, and if that doesn't work go to last windows configuration that worked, that should get yo uback on your feet, if you do get into safe mode, try backing up, saved games, emparitive data, etc, and reformat the drive and fresh install windows, that will get you running 100% again and it will help you out in the long run

don't yo love that monitor, i have the same one, it is a beautiful thing... lol... nice set up by the way

Most likely the cause of the Windows booting error are memory errors (it just happened to me).

Use memtest86 to test your system and see if any of your sticks of memory generate errors.

As for graphics card, if you get back into windows, disable VPU recover on the card and see if that helps.

Run memtest86 from a floppy. Your symptoms could be caused by many things, a bad stick of ram being one.

Edit: D'Oh! Beat to the punch.

I cant start in safe mode, or the last known working config, both of them just result in my computer restarting.

Also I tried to shut off the VPU recover, and upped the voltage and all that junk, none of it seemed to have an effect.

I'll try the memory test when I get home.

After running memtest-86 v3.0, well actually its still running, going on 21 hours which shows a problem I'm sure. There's been 41 passes and 0 errors found what so ever, not sure if it dispalys the results at the end or not.

But anyway, again I'm stuck, I have no clue whats wrong, mobo? ram? HD? gfx card? should I just ship my whole computer parts back to their company and try to get a replacement?

Again, any feedback of any kind is appreciated.

Try different Video card, reset your bios, relax your memory settings, change you AGP from 8x to 4x, just to see if that works.
