Hello, after being up all night switching computer cases, everything is running perfect expect my x-fi and z5500's. My left rear speaker and my sub is the only sound i have as of now, I did reseat the card and still having the same problem, I'm stumped and I don't know what else to do.

Anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?

Thanks. :)

I hope this is the right section for this..

You sure you got all the connection hooked up correctly? Also, you check the balance settings in the audio software?

This was working perfectly fine before right? Only after you swapped cases, it did not work?

It could be how the card is inserted into the slot. Sometimes not all cases line up perfectly when you install the mobo and the cards in the slots. The screws don't line up and thus not making it line up properly.

Thanks again, mate!
Before i switched slots i reseated the card at-least 3 times, but I'm glad that it's working now!

:D

ok i'm going to bump this again, still having problems.

I'm only get sound on 6ch direct only, nothing else. I'm not sure what else to do. I've reinstalled/reseated the card way to may times, i know i have it hooked up right. And even on the 6ch direct im not getting sound through all my speakers. Also when i rest the speakers out in windows they are out of order(center is left speaker and so on)..

Would anyone know what else i could do?
Thanks

nothing changed but the case? You haven't moved your speakers?

check:
- speaker wire connections on all satellites, on both the satellite end and subwoofer end
- the stereo plug connections on the back of the volume console

- if else fails, use a composite cable or fiber optic cable and use a digital format to get that sound from your x-fi to the z5500's.

it's especially concerning that you ONLY get sound in 6ch direct.

however, the fact that it doesn't work in Dolby Movie mode also points to mis-cabling being the cause, because Movie mode emphasizes some channels and downplays others (center and side/rear, respectively). if you accidentally have your center rerouted to your side channels, no/little sound can happen as a result.

You say you are sure you have it hooked up right, well try hooking it up 'wrong' and use the windows 5.1 test. See if you wind up w/ a config that outputs correctly.

Did you try onboard to eliminate probs w/ the speaker setup?

I used to have full surround in the PLII music and never had a problem with it.
Now it's only coming from the rear left+sub.

6ch direct is still not working(tried hooking them up the "wrong" way and the correct way and still no chance. front right speaker isn't working still. I'm pretty sure nothing is wrong with my speaker wires as they haven't been changed/moved sense I've had the 5500's.

bump, anyone else? i've got all my speakers hooked up right and all of them work expect the front right speaker. any help would greatly be appreciated.

any chance u could post screen caps of your x-fi control panel tabs?

thanks for the pic.

what settings are in your X-Fi CMSS-3D tab?

surround 5.1

50% between front and surround, i tried going 100% on both front and surround and still nothing

that didnt change your sound output at all? if it didn't im not sure what it could be without actually coming over to look at it. ill let ya know tomorrow afternoon whether i can or not.

nope, not change at all.

just give me a call and let me know..

would you have a spare sound card we could try out to make sure it's not the card itself?
