Good morning all...

I've done some research and found some options for using an Xbox or PS2 controller on the PC. (Doesn't seem to be any worthy native PC controllers with Analog sticks).

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these items, dont' know if I can trust the online reviews on that site or not, not quite sure how reputable that site is.

Merci.

That site is quite good actually, bought some stuff there before for my xbox. i would give those adapters a try if you want to use a joypad for your computer, because your right about there not being any good analog joystick controllers for the PC.

If you have any electronics skill whatsoever, forget those and make your own. It's just an xbox breakaway cable and a usb cable with the wires matched up and soldered.

Yep! do it yourself! in fact, i just bought the parts to mod a DDR pad i bought to have a breakaway so i can use it both on the xbox and my PC

true enough gents, might as well blow off the dust on the soldering iron.

Just was wondering if anyone has used the controller's (console controllers) on a pc, how the drivers are, I'm reading mixed results, anyhow, thanks for the replies, I'll let you know how it turns out.

If you were interested in native PC pads w/dual sticks, the new logitech dual action is pretty much an exact clone of a PS2 controller. No drivers needed, either, in WinXP.

I use my ps2 controller through a smart joy plus that I bought from that site. It works great. With Windows 2k or XP you don't even need the drivers unless you want support for force feedback (rumbling).

Just a tip to everyone:
if your using Third Party Xbox controllers/Extention Cables/dongles VERIFY THE Color code of the wires. i ended up killing my DDR pad because The pad NOR the extention i was going to mod into the cable followed the xbox or usb color scheme, So whipout your multimeter and verify the pinouts.

the Xbox controller is easy to change. The PS2 you are better off buying an adapter.

I got the Dual PS2 pad, it's really great. Never tried it with 2 players at once yet though. IMO, the PS2 controller is one of the more ergonomic. I use it to play mostly racing games, because I don't have a wheel. NFS Underground and Colin McRae feels great with this controller. Won't use it in a shooter though.

But I was very doubtful when I bought the adapter, and was quite surprised to see it worked.
