XBMC buffering issues. Please help?

This has been an ongoing battle now and I don't know how to fix it. I have searched and done everything I came across that had anything to do with XBMC buffering playback issues. Running the current build of XBMC 12.3 Frodo. Anyone else having buffering issues? I am not streaming anything. Everything is stored on the HTPC's two 1.5tb HDDs. Mostly MKV videos...

HDMI being used on the Radeon 5450
Optical output being used on the motherboard

Here is my current XBMC build :

Intel i3 530
Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H LGA 1156 Intel H55 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Sapphire Radeon HD 5450
2 x WD 1.5tb Back HDDs
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 V2 430W
LITE-ON Black 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X
Thermaltake Lanbox Lite VF6000BWS

Another question while I am at it. I have my OS installed on one of the WD Black 1.5tb drives and was curious how I would go about installing a tiny boot SSD without loosing all the movies currently on the drive. I currently do not have a way to move those movies, format and put them back. Suggestions?

My guess is something using the HDD drive, so it can't read fast enough to play without buffering. This happens to me when new items are downloaded and automatically copied to the drive.
