last night it was the weirdest thing. my stock fan on my radeon x800xt was flipping out. i was sitting there and noticed the fan was very loud, and it was running at 100% when i wasnt playing a game and just in desktop mode. usually i have it running at about 45% using the controls on ati tool. and the fan speed increases when the temp increases why playing a game. so when the fan was running at 100% i checked ati tool and noticed it still saying its running at 45%. but i knew that was wrong. so i checked overide fan speed and set it to 100%. and then the fan got dead silent. then i set it to 45% and it got very loud. so then then i set it back to 100% and opend my case to see how fast the fan is spinning. and noticed when it was at 100% the fan was off. I just want to know, will the fan being off for about 45 seconds damage the card any. i wasnt playing any type of graphic intense program just at the desktop. i quickly set the fan speed back up and checked temps and they where at about 46C. but i know the temps change fast on vid cards. then i resest the comp, and all was well with the fan control settings.
