X800XT and X800XT-PE difference?

The X800XT hasn't been announced yet, no official specs are public.

There are rumors floating out there though.
 
so if a place says that they are selling a x800xt, that probably just means that it is a x800xt-PE??

if you can check the specs first to make sure

if it has 16 pipes and is clocked at 520/560 then it is the PE
 
There is no such thing as a Radeon x800XT (without the PE).

I also read a quote once (can't find it now) where they said an ATI rep basically just said that the XT was so incredible that they just couldn't help adding something to the name to make it clear how special it was... Thus Platinum Edition was added to the end even though there is no non-Platinum Edition XT.

That doesn't mean there never will be a non-PE version (I imagine it would be a standard board with all 16 pipes open but with 2ns ram, and clocked lower in the core too), but there definitely isn't one now, and I can't find any offical press releases saying there is a plan for one in the future.
